Ultrex/ Ethernet ?
Hi all,
I’m updating to the Ultrex and have a question. Will the Ultrex plug into my Ethernet 5 port hub without any special adapter cable?. Also when connected to the Ethernet hub can I use any unit connected to the 5 port hub to control the Ultrex?

Unless you have an Ultrex Link, No. If you do have the link yes it will, but only with Humminbird units will it work. You do need an adapter cable.
The Ultrex Link ethernet cable should plug right into the HB Ethernet 5 port, right? I just had to use the ethernet dongle adapter to plug the Link directly into my HB Helix 10 MDI+ 4GN.

Yes you are correct. You will need the adapter to connect the port to the Helix.
As long as you have a Ultrex “Link” it connects directly to the 5 port Ethernet switch with a provided 20’ Ethernet cable that comes with the motor. Any helix/solix that is plugged into that 5 port can control the trolling motor. Helix’s will need a Ethernet wire and an adapter, solix is a direct Ethernet connection to the port. Also a helix/solix can be directly attached to the trolling motor with the necessary adapter if your only using one unit. You can also use the remote.Originally Posted by BadAttitude

Rather than start a whole new post, I will add on to this one. I have a brand new boat with an xplore 10 at bow, xplore 9 at console, Ultrex trolling motor and a 5 port ethernet switch. I have not yet launched the boat as I am working through a motor issue, whole different issue, but have been getting my one boat network set up. When I turn on the trolling motor, and depth finders, the 5 port switch only shows the two depth finders connected and not the trolling motor. I have not yet deployed the trolling motor as it will not fully deploy while on the trailer and I have not yet put the boat on the water. My question. Does the Ultrex need to be fully deployed for the ethernet to work? It would seem not but I can not find this information anywhere. I have run all my own diagnostics, hooking Ultrex cable directly to depth finder, hooking depth finder directly to Ultrex cable going to the port, and the cabling and switch work fine. This leads me to two conclusions, either the ethernet is not working in the control head, or the motor needs to be deployed for ethernet to work.
Fully deployed(or very close to ful)l is needed.
