Fished the El Reno Sportsmen's Club Tourney on Sunday. Man - was it hot!!!
I re-learned a valuable lesson. Never re-spool your reels for a tournament with line you thought was "new" when in fact it had been in your garage for who knows how many years. I broke off 3 good keeper fish that would have won me the whole thing. Grrrrrr.
I broke off 2 keepers during practice on Saturday morning using very light line that I knew was too light, but I didn't care because it was just practice. So I went back to the motel and re-spooled my 2 drop-shot spinning rigs with line I thought was pretty new. Alas, it was not.
At least my 13 year old had new line and he won 2nd and Big Bass with his 4 lber.
Our bites were few and far between, but most came off of boat docks near points. Fish were suspended about 10 feet down below docks in 25-30 feet. Most bites came finesse worms using small jig heads. Zach's big bass was caught on a LC 1.5 shad CB off a bridge piling.
Now that the tourney is over I am going back to night fishing for hybrids on Foss and Ft. Cobb.
