I've had a tire guard on my goldwing for about 15 years. Never had a problem with it. I believe they make one for vehicles.

The "TireMinder Solar Powered Trailer TPMS, 4 Tire Kit" from Amazon is what I've been using on my trailer since August 2019. Not the perfect solution, but it makes me feel better to check tire pressure while towing. The alarm is weak, the display hard to see in the daylight, never knew the temperature or pressure changed that much. Sensors have never leaked, just changed the original batteries. They did not fail, just felt guilty, they have been "on" since I installed them.

Not sure where the "waterproof" comes in.

If the air stays in the tire, how can water get in?

Silverado came with 4 extra sensors for the trailer and they are the same as the sensors installed in the truck tires.

Is there a different class of sensors for trailer tires that is waterproof?

Always willing to learn something new.

Mike, not all TPMS systems are internal in the tire, you can buy some that go on valve stem that are not submersible.

Can you install and see those 4 extra sensors in your trucks computer/dash? If so that's awesome feature I hadn't heard of that before.

    MMMmmm

    Learn something new everyday.

I thought all TPMS units were internal.

Did not know external units were available.

Each trailer towed can be set it up as a one, two or three axle, 2 tires per axle, 6 tires max.

The trailer TPMS unit are read in the center radio display with a trailer app included with the trailering package.

The trailer app allows each trailer to be set up as a profile, so if you tow more than 1 trailer, each gets its own profile.

Hook up the lights and then pick the connected trailer profile and it will show that trailers tire sensors and it also records the MPG and the mileage driven with that trailer.

    Nice system.

These TPMS units are read separate than the truck TPMS units, which are read in the trucks center dash display.

Odd thing is that the truck tires only display a pressure value and the trailer app in the radio displays the pressure and temperature values of each of the trailer tires per @ trailer profile.

Odd GM engineering that the temp would not be important info on the truck tire also, since the same TPMS sensors is used in both applications and the temp value would seem available to be displayed.

That's pretty cool didn't know vehicles had that as option. Agree feel like pressure and temp would be good info for all sensors!

I just got a Pressure Pro Fx to replace my 4 YO EEZ tire model. The pressure pro is all waterproof and sets up via phone. When I bought the EEZ system I had to buy extra waterproof sensors. After they died I called them trying to find 4 replacements and they told me the original ones that came with the kit were waterproof, they weren’t. The pressure pro seems pretty decent and the price isn’t horrible compared to others. And when I need new sensors, I can just buy theirs.

I purchased the TireMinder solar powered unit just this year and like it. It is listed to be waterproof and I have not had any issues yet. This is from their website:
"The TireMinder Transmitters have an IP Rating of IPX7, meaning they are able to be submerged in up to 1 meter (3.2FT) of water for up to 30 minutes. Prior to submersion, please double check that the transmitter and cap are tightly secured."

As stated the alarm is week but it does work. I have been able to use it without using the signal booster but it needed to be up high and not down on the dash in my experience. Definitely worth the peace of mind to know if a tire is going down before it tears stuff up!

    Interesting.
I'm curious if Ford has a similar OEM system?

I use the TST system and swap the sensors around to what ever trailer I am towing. The TPMS so far will not link to my Ford 2017-2021. No issues full dunk in brackish water. I use is via the monitor not the phone. Mine are vavle stem mounted.

Guess I need to check that out---My 2021 Silverado did not come with extra sensors.. that would sure be the way to go. It does have a neat feature that enables you to check trailer lights by yourself !!! Push a switch and it will start cycling through all functions while you go back and look.

Sounds like it may have been an option, as neither of my Silverados came with extra sensors.

Found some stuff from 2019 that it was available with certain packages.
Will make some phone calls and find out if it's available and if it can be added.
