    OKC Bass fishing

I live in Edmond & recently bought my first boat, 1981 Ranger 370V. I'm going to get her on the water soon & was wondering where the closest bass hole is. I live a few miles from Arcadia, but I think it's better known for crappie & cats. Where's the first place I should take her?

Hey Rob go to Wal-mart and buy an Oklahoma atlas and gazeteer. Im looking at mine and there's Arcadia, Hefner, Overholser, Stanley Draper, Thunderbird, Shawnee reserviour, Tecumseh, Meeker, and Chandler, all within less than 100 miles. Of those Thunderbird is probablt the most popular bass lake in your area. personally I don't think you could go wrong with any of ' shoot some of the less popular lakes are sometimes the best. My vote would be Arcadia until I got to know the boat and it's idiosyncrosis and then start venturing out. Oh and congrats on the boat and be sure to post pics of her for us to see.

I was thinking the same thing, only a few miles away made perfect sense.

Lake Konawa is less than 100 mile from you and can be very good from now until late spring. It is only about 1,400 acres so it isn't overwhelming in terms of where to fish. Konawa City Park ramp at the west end of south cove would be the best place for you to launch. Closest route for you would be east out of Asher. Other than the ramp, there are no other amenities, like marinas etc. so you need to have everything in the way of food, gas and tackle before you get there.

If you decide to give it a try, let me know when you will be there and if I am going then I will look for you on the water. I am not a real good fisherman, but the people who are catch some really nice fish there.

Wes Watkins. Shawnee is down way low, and I mean low. Only one ramp that can be used and it's on the south lake. The crossover to the north lake is bone dry. I'm probably heading out Saturday to do some fishing there. Also, there are some decent bass in Arcadia, just got to get to them before the pressure turns them off.

Give Bell Cow a shot, it is in Chandler and is not down a whole lot. Prague is also a good lake. You can't run on Prague but you will catch some quality fish. Both of these are right up the turnpike from you
