    Erie smallies are biting!

Spent the weekend up at lake Erie fishing around the islands for smallies. We had a good day saturday we caught around 35 and had 12 smallies over 4lbs. My buddie caught the biggest and it was was 5.68lbs. Sunday was a different story we fished the same areas and only caught around 15 and most was only about 2.5lbs. Had a fun weekend and got to catch some lake Erie football smallmouth. Mercy them fish are FAT up there!

A claim of big smallies, eh? I think we need some pics for evidence.

That stinks.. well not for you on the fish , but for me that stinks.
We go up the last week of april and usually we catch them just like you are right now.

That means that im going to be about 5 weeks late :-( due to the warm water.

What do you think it will be like the last week of april? I have never been up there that late..

    Nice smallies

...was that a special, top secret fishing expedition???? Not only did you conceal the dudes face, but you even concealed the shoreline in the background??

Shhhhhhh Dusty! As soon as you left for Georgia these big smallies showed up around Tanners creek. I told you you need to come up here and fish Erie in the spring. This year spring started ALOT earlier.

Flippin....yes the lake was very calm. We could run around doing 60mph and not even get beat up! Had to use the TM just to move around to fish Saturday. Sunday there was just enough wind to move you around a little but still not much. The big pond was very clam all weekend.

No Smokey we never made it over to that spot.

Dan I wish i would have had a Merc on my rig since the LU change was done on my ride. I still can not find the 3-4mph i lost when BRP suggested the L2 to M2 LU swap. If I had a Merc I would still be running close to 80. Need to find some guys around here running 28-30" pitch props now that would let me borrow one to test.

Re: Erie smallies are biting! (Whitaker201)

My son and I are looking to fish somewhere for his springbreak, the first week in april. We're from MI and bass season is closed here so we've trying to figure out if we could do Erie for some smallmouth in OH waters. Would we have a chance over a few days of fishing to find some smallies near the shoreline or do we need to venture out into deeper water or head to the islands. I've got a 201 stratos but not a whole lot of experience on big water other than St clair. Thanks for any help and NICE fish!
