Black soot build up on prop

    Model e200 fplsnf
    # 04985302
I have a 2002 200 ficht motor. I have noticed that on the inside of the prop there is carbon build up, a black coating all over the inside. I run xd-50 during the summer months and xd-100 when cold out. I have the motor proped to run in 5300 to 5800 range depending on the load. Because of gas prices, I have not run the boat very hard this year, 3000 to 3500 RPM most of the time. During a tournament it does get run hard, just not much, only five tournaments this year. Is the build up from not running hard much.
What is the black soot from?
Is it bad? or is this normal for a ficht motor?
    Thanks for any help.
    Matt

Re: Black soot build up on prop (handline1)

Matt, welcome aboard, you will always see soot on the inside of the hub more so with organic oil (out of the ground). The semi-syn XD50 is a little better and also doesn't smoke as much. The XD 100 is fully synthetic and is the ultimate oil to run in ANY two stroke outboard. It will give you the least amount of soot nd your rings will thank you for it. I would be worried if mine didn't have some, I'd be afraid my engine wasn't getting the right amount...........hope this helps some......G

Re: Black soot build up on prop (Garfish)

It's normal, my 03 has always had it. I have recently found my engine is running a little cooler than normal and that will contribute to it some, along with premature wear on the plugs. You need to be running I believe the gurus say 160* @ idle. Hope this helps some.
