    Fuel starvation problem

Eng. will run a few minutes then quits. Can pump the bulb to fill carbs - eng. then runs for a few more minutes. I installed a new vapor pump, but this did not cure the problem.

    Please Help me.

    Thanks,

Will the motor run while you continue to pump the bulb? If it will then I would suspect the VRO/OMS pump. Part number 5007420 and $400.00 Benjamin's should fix you right up!

Try hooking a seperate 6 gallon fuel tank & fuel line assy. directly to the center nipple of the VRO pump and put a clamp on it. Prime the bulb and start her up. If the motor runs fine the problem is between the fuel tank pickup and the outlet side of the vapor seperator.

ChampionMan is right, it sounds like the VRO pump but an air leak in the fuel system will cause the same symptom.

Given the year of your engine it wouldn't be a bad idea to upgrade to the new OMS pump kit.
While your at it, check all fuel lines from the tank to the engine and all the ones on the engine for deterioration and replace as necessary.

    Re: Fuel starvation problem (ChampioNman)

I've had no helper, so I can only pump the bulb once the engine quits or will only idle, after that though, it runs for a few minutes, maybe a quarter of a mile on plane before rpm's start dropping off. What is Benjamin's? mail order for engine parts?

This mtr is on a Javelin 389, would there be a oil water separator/filter on the tank in a hidden location?

    Thanks

ChampionMan said part #5007420, is this the upgrade OSM pump? or the original?
Will the upgrade pump work without modifications? Do you have a part #?

No way of telling if there is even a water separator installed you will have to follow the fuel hose out of the tank to the motor. If there is a separator installed it will be in the battery compartment some where. It could also be your primer bulb itself that would be the cheapest to replace. Go with a BRP primer bulb 3/8".

The part number for the OMS is 5007420. Benjamin's are $100.00 bills Ben Franklin is on the front and a new OMS pump will cost you 4 of them.
