Johnson 175 we want start this but last time it run 10 years then in storage.

Well we decide want get boat in lake but several of friends say don't do that because due water pump is junk because long time not in water it end dry and rot.

Is that true? How hard to remove water pump? We never done but I can do anything but would like instruction with pictures.

Is this motor 2 or 4 stroke? What oil ratio for this?

Do we need change gear oil or it be fine?

What stuff we need check before put in lake.

We check 6 spark plugs it in good shape plus have oil on it because we put oil in cylinders before storage. Good thing it not seizure it still spin.

We want this in lake 2 days.

    Sorry for my bad English.

Let's start with RULE #1 from the main page.

What is the complete model number of the motor?

It my first time work on this boat but have work lot with car engine in boat.

i forgot it came from Florida in 1994 which was used saltwater boat but we use in fresh water.

Look on the left side looking from the back of the motor on the mounting bracket.

we found it make in 1982 that must good motor and it have 220 hours on it.

    Model is J175TXCNB

    serial J5702414

Now it run but we need replace water pump it is rubber. Is price good if we have dealer fix this? They charge $65 per hours and they say it will be 2 to 3 hours work on it.

But we need find pic or instruction how to clean carbs? We don't want do at dealer because it would get pricey fast.
