Maybe it is because as Jay said, You just like dealing with the product and like helping people make an intelligent decision. I had a short term chance at a Basscat Factory sponsorship deal. Ivan Williams who is the national sales rep offered it to me himself as I had arranged to get their product into a local dealer. "Pick a boat and you can have it for factory pricing which is below dealer cost".
Why did I bother? I like dealing with boats and helping out around them. I wish I could own a dealership.Too bad I was in no position to afford to do it
at the time. Can't believe I had to pass up on the deal but figured Maybe next year.
Too bad the dealer was more into ocean boats and wouldn't listen when told how to promote bass boats so they didn't last and the deal was gone.
I would do it just for the fun of being around them and getting to talk about something I love to do.
Some pro staff HAVE to buy a boat every year. Some buy when they want.
sorry about the long post but Hope this helps you understand the reason some guys get involved in that way Earl.
