I’ve got a 185 espirit and running a 175 Mercury With 23 stainless prop. It’s not going to get a good jump on a hole shot like some of the lighter boats but it will get up to 55 (gos) and stay there no matter the waves or weather.. I’m on the Ohio River so dealing with barge traffic and their wake is not a problem for me but buddies with smaller bass boats have issues.
I have a 1996 185 SC Ragin Cajun. 150 Johnson Fast Strike. 21” Raker “worked over” rolled to a 22” with extra cup. 56mph at 55 rpms w/ full load of fuel and 2 people. Comes out of the hole good! In the summer I’ll run 1/2 tanks of gas most of the time but during the winter I keep them full, help to keep condensation down. Mine holds 44 gallons of fuel. That extra weight does make a little difference.
