could this of caused damage?

i have a 96 200 vindi when i was coming back to the ramp yesterday the water hose for the reciever for the water pressure guage come off while i was running underneath the cowling started to fill up the cowling with water lost 1000 rpms and tach signal was haywire finally stalled out tilted motor up to get water out started it back up within 5 minutes seemed ok power loaded ontrailer ok also this is a brand new power head this all happened during breakin time under 3500 rpms could this of caused internal damge or what also when i pump the primer bulb gas comes out the front of it please help dont want to mess up new powerhead just spent 4200.00 on it ???p.s. sorry so long!!!

If it filled up under the cowl, I would be afraid the engine ingested some water, which would be BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Water doesn't compress like air.

Take it back. Keep good records now.
