    Who's loves their cranking rod?

I'm going all Duckett the next couple of years, I don't care what anyone says....

Considering getting the Duckett cranking rod this spring, later to add a 6'6 MH to my already acquired 6'9" MH

My crank season is fairly short as it's pretty limited to March/April/May, not sure how much fishing I'll be doing this time of year. I will probably end up getting the 6'6 first and possibly the cranker in the fall? Guess I'm just making cabin-fever conversation, figured I'd get a little perspective here.

i like my falcons, ducketts feel nice, but the thing that scares me about them they are made in china (at least that what is what i been told) and the $35 replacement fee on top of shipping costs (if you dont have a dealer nearby) could add up to $75 to replace it! Just something to think about before to commiting to one rod company.

    Just my thoughts...

I've been using Shimano rods almost exclusively the past few years. They're about the same price range as other high end rods, but the thing that I like most about the crucials and cumaras is the no hassle warranty. I've broken a few rods, both accidental and on fish. I've never had a problem replacing a rod and they come with lifetime warranties. I'll agree with basscubs, the ease of replacement is something to take into consideration. I haven't personally dealt with Duckett, but if it is about $75 to replace a broken rod, that's half the cost of a brand new rod right there. Its something to think about. I've also picked up a few Powell rods this past year and they're awesome rods for the cost. I got a glass spook/trap rod (7'H glass) and a 7'5MH glass rod for deep cranks/traps. Both are awesome rods and were under the $200 mark. Just some things to consider. Unless of course you're getting a deal from Duckett.

I believe it is only $35 if you break it yourself, but correct me if I am wrong. I am pretty sure if it breaks on a hookset, they would warranty the rod.

Used a Dobyns 7ft. Glass rod the crank toward the end of last season and loved it. I will probably pick up the 7'6 Glass rod for deeper cranks.

I am sponsored by Duckett and I love the rods, especially the crankin rod. The 7' M weighs only 4 oz. It is incredibly light and has the right action for a crankin rod. Yes it is $35 for a replacement under warranty for 20 years unless it breaks in the first year you get a replacement for free. I am very pleased with all the Duckett rods. If you have any other questions about them let me know.

Duckett has a great deal on shipping, they can ship 10 rods for $18 to $16 depending on where you live. They ship through UPS and have a deal with them.

I recently switched to all Denali rods and they offer 7' med for $89 and a 7' m/h for $99 in the Jadewood series. Very nice rod for the money and has a limited lifetime warranty. Plus made in Mountain Home, Arkansas.

Love my Falcons,if I knew a way to get my money back on my Shimano reels,i would go Ardent, and be all USA. If Ducket is handing out sponsership to anybody ,I'd say keep those things.

    Loomis Bronzeback 814-CB

very versatile rod used it for everything all last season with great results. spinnerbaits, square bills, jerks, traps, topwater.

    Very sensitive.

I have a St. Croix Premier 7' medium cranking rod, and a 7' Avid series MH cranking rod.

The Premier has landed 98% of my fish cranking and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I can tell if the crankbait is fouled and love how it loads up on my casts.
