Gel Coat or Marine Tex for this repair?

The 4200 I used to seal bolt holes took some gel-coat with it when I removed my motor:
    • I am looking for guidance on if I should use marine tex, gel coat, or something else.
      • Also, and help on the process of applying either one would be great.
      • I am not sure on wax vs no wax for gel coat as well, as I am new to cosmetic repairs.

    • The is entirely under the motor mount and cannot be seen.

    Thanks for any help!

IMO...there is some delamination goin on there. Needs to be checked by a reputable glass shop.

can you explain the delamination. The picture is deceiving, the surface is very uniform and thr area around the hole is tight to the glass. There is just a lot of 4200 on the transom from a very liberal application. The transom is in great shape from what I can tell.

Transom can be in perfect condition dosen't mean the gel on top is. I agree if it was mine I would have it looked at never seen one come apart removing the motor have had to heat them up to break loose but never break the gel.

This will become a major issue if not taken care of soon, you need a pro for this job

It “may” be just from where the 4200 pulled the gel off....I would still have it looked at. Rather spend a little now than a lot later...

Gel coat. That is the perfect spot for a repair. Even if you don't get it perfect looking you will cover it up with the motor anyway.
