Here are the pics from the trip.
This is the first day of fish.
I lost a toad at the boat as my pride took over and I wouldn't let anyone help me boat the fish. Got the fish to the side and went to lip it, sucker spit my jig at me lol. Also mention of note and unfortunately, my father did fall in the boat. He got tripped up on a lifejacket and jammed his back when he landed. Not a good thing as this would progress to soreness later on in the trip.
Day two of fishing proved to be my Brothers best day.
This was the male he pulled in first. In order to get this one, he was laying down on the deck of the boat with his arm all the way in the water trying to get it unsnagged. With some grace of luck, he managed to unsnag and haul it in. This was within a foot of the side of the boat where he flipped to. We was tying off on stumps to just sit in the spot and ride the waves and fish the stumps around us. A bigger fish lay in store for my brother in the exact same spot. Once the male was gone it was time to get mama fish. 10 minutes later mama decided to bite and get caught.
My brother was the only one to bring in fish on this day. After looking at my map, I believe we was fishing in Big Buck Cove, in the clump of trees marked on the Martin's SuperMap.
Day three was supposed to be a decent day in the morning for not much wind. I think the weather man screwed the pooch again on this. And the day started out once again with launching in Steamboat. As we was floating in the water waiting for the others to get there. My brother hooks into a fish but loses it. This seems to set the tone for us for the day. We took right on off out of steamboat and went straight over to Pension Spring Creek. This was nice and tucked out of the wind and looked good for some fishing. Well unfortunately, my fathers back managed to say I am done. We took him back to the ramp after about 3 hours of fishing. My brother and I took off and decided to head for Birch Creek. We found a cove just before the bridge and decided to fish this. In hopes of catching fish but also maybe seeing some gators. Needless to say, neither was seen up in this cove. Also had the joy of watching a feller catch a fish behind us in a spot we went through lol. Get a call from my buddy and he tells us where he is at and they are on fire. Well we head on off to find him and race past him in the boat lane from where he is. Once we get turned around and head back to him we are following his pattern and well watching them catch fish lol.
As you can see we was close lol. When we first pulled up one of em put a cast within about 5 feet of my boat and brought in a fish lol. We followed them in a trolling pattern on this creek channel he found on this area. Missing fish and watching them catch and miss as well. Buddy heads back on in and we decide to fish a little bit longer when apparently it was my time to catch a fish. I hit a tree about 3 feet above water and the lure sank straight down next to it. Fishing a watermelon red fluke 7" and being patience. Finally a fish on and got it to the boat and landed it.
Well after catching this we troll some more when my father calls asking us if we was coming in or what. I look out and see 2 to 3 foot waves and tell my brother we need to get off of here lol. I haven't driven the boat in waves like this before so something new for me lol. I did manage to have him come up about 6 inches once lol. But we did make it back safe to the boat launch. We couldn't get back out on the lake as the wind would not lay down. So we decided to call it a trip and head back that night. We was fed some good grub and here is a picture of the aftermath of enjoying the food.
We also had trophies for the winner and the losing fishermen lol.
The winning group.
The losing group.
I must say this was a blast of a trip. Glad my brother came this time and also got to meet two more fellas from the online racing land I have fun on. We are going to do the trip again and plan on shooting for one of the first weeks in May this time around. Fish bite should be better and hopefully the wind won't be as bad. Also one sad thing was the lake was four foot low. I seen some spots that I went over on plane in my boat and talk about making me pucker to see what I was flying over without thinking about it.
If you ever get a chance to go to Lake Fork, take it. You will not regret it.
The whole group.
Shot of the boat hauling the losing teem around. And I wouldn't mind a bigger boat to haul the three of us lol. Or I could lose weight but its easier to get a bigger boat isn't it? lol.
