I feel your pain about finding Yamalube. After much research, I decided to do away with Yamalube altogether, and switched to Pennzoil Premium Plus. It is $15 for a gallon of it, can find it at any auto parts store or walmart, and lots of guys use it. I noticed a difference in how the motor ran because it idled smoother and did smoke less at idle. When I switched oils, I also put a new set of plugs in because that will really tell me. The plugs still look good, haven't had to replace them like I did with Yamalube like every 4 months. I still use Ring Free, but switched to Ring Free Plus, and put Stabil with every fill. Guys will say only use Yamalube because it has more detergents and protective ingredients, but really any oil that says the motor manufacturer approves the oil to be used should be good because then you know it won't void any warranty. Pennzoil Premium Plus has that stated on their oil. I am running a 2002 200 HPDI. I think you will be happy with Pennzoil if you switched, definitely runs cleaner! If you stick with Yamalube, the only places I know of that carry it is Cabelas. Any yamaha outboard shop will have it too.

I have an 02 as well but not the HPDI. Ive tried the Cabelas by me but no luck on Yamalube. I may switch brands as well after reading a lot of posts here on this topic
