No.. ONly SI..
All SI units with the latest FREE software upgrade has the Red/Green color palette.
that blows! but okay thanks!
hey mike say I get the 788 DI this year can I update and get side imaging on the unit like u can on the lowrance or would you have to sell that product as a whole and then get the 798 SI. The reason Im asking is because the 798 is a little out of my budget this year but I can afford the 788, so If when next yr comes Im just wondering if I can get side imaging on this unit or am I gonna have to sell it. I really really really want that red/green scale. lol

You would have to sell the 788 and buy a 798 if you want Si red/green pallet.
okayy thanks again.
Sweet, this will be very useful when I fish Kentucky Lake this fall looking for shell beds.
Checked it out yesterday, works great when you arent sure if there is rock in certain places. And if you are looking for mussel beds...even better.
Here's some more neat red/green color pallet that found the hard spots and fish...

hey doug would this be sensitive enough on bass beds to where the bass have already fanned the beds to the hardbotom so u can locate bedding fish from a good ways off so ur not spooking them
I have not tried the Red/Green for that but it very well could. I'll ahve to try that out next year to see what it does.

Doug - First off thanks for all the awesome advice on maximizing the use side imaging!
Those green/red pics are cool and all but I am not sure what is gained by switching to green/red. It seems just as clear where the hard spots are on the blue pallete too.
Are there times when blue pallete doesn't pronounce hard bottom as well?
You can run the green red and scan an area fast and the hard bottom areas will jump out easier when look for specific bottom hardness. Once you find these areas then you can switch back to your favorite color pallette. Hard bottoms hold fish at different times of the year like shell beds, rock piles, etc. First thing is to find them that is where the Red/Green Color Pallete comes in...I'm only look for hard bottom returns once I find them I can go back to scanning normally to see if it's worth fishing.
