I just have to imagine that there's good fishing somewhere between these 70+ mile runs. It may not be good enough for a win, but probably good enough that you won't slide down in the standings. I don't think I'd want to risk the points on a mechanical failure or weather-related issue.

I forget who told me about that, but yes just recently I heard about it. That's absolutely ridiculous. There's a ton of big water on that run that can leave you 100+ miles from your truck and trailer. Not to mention, you have to have confidence that you can put 25+ pounds in the boat in about 30 minutes.

On the St Lawrence the MLF//BPT events are held out of Massena - that's about another 20 miles further away from Waddington to get to the mouth of Lake Ontario and pushing 100 miles in total. A run out to The Ducks, the area Patrick Walters won in last year, Chaumont or Henderson will add another 20-30 miles to the trip. Add some spot hopping to all that and a pro could put easily put 250-300 miles on the boat in one day.

Its not the farthest but Scott Martin was running roughly 80 miles one way in the last FLW on KY Lake where I think he got 2nd. Ran from the dam in KY to down south of the New Johnsonville bridge in TN. Tournament was won by a large large margin just a few miles from takeoff tho

I think they were filling up at a dock. Run time was like 90 minutes but cutting across Galveston Bay is not a 60+mph run probably. A couple would go all the way through Galveston Bay into the brackish bayous of Clear Lake. Others (I think Skeet) were going up the Trinity River

Jason Christys run on the Sabine in Orange for the win was impressive, can't recall how long of a run but no avaiiable fuel that way he figured out ways to get max amount of fuel in the tank. He calculated rpms to save fuel and lines to run and lower distance he really earned that one .

Isn't Lake Oahe up there also. Wasn't there a few pros making the 100mile boat run? I Know Dean R made a comment the first time out he had to fill along the way.

I've heard of guys running from the southern tip of Kentucky Lake up through the Barkley Canal down to the southern tip of Barkley. Not sure how many miles that is but it's a haul for sure.

Now that’s a run with a lot of big smallies left behind.

Having fished with Ernie he seems like a guy that won't "die on the hill" when it comes to spots. If they're cold he quickly cuts bait and goes to plan B, C, D all the way to Z. I can't imagine making an hour and a half run just for him to say 15 mins later "yep, they're not here let's move!".

I believe it was Rick Clunn and Larry Fraizer were running 120 miles by water one way. They had to strap gas tanks to the back of the boat to make it back. When they got to their destination they had to run through a shoot that was getting shallower each day.

There's no way. That would be like 220 miles one way.

I haven't been in a boat that's done that but have heard it's been done. I would never want to be on that ride, no fish limit is worth that.

There was a FLW Tour tournament on Pickwick in the early 2000's. Pickwick was fishing tough and several guys locked all the way up to Guntersville. That is 3 locks up and 3 locks down, plus at least one stop for gas. There were stories of guys running out of gas and several got checks doing it. One of them was Jay Yelas. In 2007, the first TTBC (Toyota Texas Bass Classic) was a 4-man team tournament and I was on Jay's team. We fished together one of the days and I asked him about it. He had zero'd on Pickwick on Day One and had nothing else going, so he ran to Guntersville. They had 40 minutes to fish at the mouth of Brown's Creek. He caught 11-12lbs and got a $10K check. That is pretty incredible to hit six lockings perfect.

I found that funny how that was the selling point for being in an xpress.. he claimed so much on how efficient it was and how calculated his run was and couldn’t do it if it wasn’t for the xpress boat.. a month later he’s in a Skeeter.. haha..

I think Hite was traveling more than two hours each way, but when he got to that oxbow lake, his fish were quality fish and they were deep.
