    Update #2:

    Poppet Diverter installed (and working) but no change in temps ????? I'm still looking at around 155-160 at speed. I pulled the L/U off last night and the water pump still looks like brand new, so no issues there. I should have the new water pump kit I ordered from you at the house today and I'll put it in regardless of the old pumps condition. The drive shaft seal ontop of the water pump was still in place where I glued it. The stat's (120 deg) performed well on the hot water test, so short of pulling the heads (????) I'm at a loss as to why the higher temps, <u>let me mention that there have been no alarms or faults recorded due to over temp conditions on my DDT.</u> I'm just going by a visual display on my analog gauge which I tested and compared to an IR heat gun and it was close +/- 5 degrees..........

    Water pressure at idle around 5 PSI then 10-12 PSI at 5K-up. I might also add that there is no restriction for water flow in the L/U, checked it and flushed it.

    Update:

    Spoke to Eric on the Diverter dumping at idle and he said there should be "NO" water coming out at idle. So I'm still at wit's end here.....I'll pull the Poppet apart again and look for a problem with the rubber inner seal as Eric said that's what's causing the water to dump. It all went together smoothly, but I'm not perfect and might have missed something, so I'll have to look again. I'll follow up afterwards.....


    While were talk'n bout my motor, after I pulled the lower I looked up at the Tuner and noticed that the Starboard side was wet and the Port side was dry. Pulled all 6 plugs and they all looked exactly the same "dark brown" and slightly wet ?

    Yep , I had the rubber o ring in the wrong spot the first time as well.

    Definetly dont want any water coming out ofthe diverter at idle

    Not uncommon (one side of tuner appearing more damp than the other).

    Correct the seating problem at the poppet diverter, and it should help to correct both your water pressure AND your cooling problem.

    Update:

    Went out yesterday after re-installing the Poppert Diverter and a new water pump...(old pump still looked like brand new).....Idle temps still around 130 with water pressure @ 5 PSI, now at 5000+ RPM pressure now at 15-17 PSI and temps down to 150 from around 160-165.

    I don't know what changed anything but, I'm leaving well enough alone. Poppet still flowing a very slight amount at idle which Eric said shouldn't but it's ok if it does.

    These temps I feel are very reasonable for my motor, and beside I'm getting tired of chasing my tail on this one......... .

    Thanks to Don, Eric and everybody else who had some input on this..........

    Don at what temp does the overheat alarm sound on these motors ?

    i thought mine was 160 but could be wrong

    It varied depending on the specific calibration- but usually is somewhere in the 161-165 F range.
