    Re: Braided line (RogerR)

Just got back to fishing the lake use to fish alot on La side up around the hog pin area. That's been 20 plus years ago when damn near all the timber was still standing above the water. Now most of it's gone. Plus I bought a place on Texas side. Kids have grown up and the rodeo days are done so now gone back to fishing. Now having to learn lake again sorry can't offer much help.

I visit a camp between Buckeye and Big Bass. Try not to run too far to fish.

    Re: Braided line

If they made a braid that I couldn't snap easier than 8 pound mono I would give you a suggestion...as for now, the only suggestion I can give is to get rid of the braid and get some real line...

    Re: Braided line (JOHN202)

Bad thing is you can pull a truck with it, but if I set the hook on a 2 pound fish it will pop...I have never, and I mean not one time set the hook on a fish with braid on a worm/jig and not had it pop. I started using it on my crankbait and spinner bait rods, and had good success till one day while fishing a tournament in old river, I had a fish hit a mid range bandit and he hit it flying at the boat...threw slack in the line, I set back, and popped it. the very next day, the same thing happened with a spinner bait, and popped again...couple seconds later a 4 pound fish went airborn with my spinnerbait hanging out. I haven't touched brain since...it's not that I have a ferocious hook set or anything either...I've discovered that the way I set the hook with a worm or what not is what breaks it...I reel down, and continue to go down without catching up to the line and when I set, there is a small amount of slack in it...the shock load pops it every time...
