    my question is... if you hit something with an alum prop wouldn't there be more give then in a ss one, thus protecting your lower unit from max damage if you hit something?

    would you suffer more injuries if someone threw you into a solid steel door or a hollow door???

    Most SS props have a plastic hub inside designed to spin if you hit anything. Very littl chance of damaging prop shaft or lower unit. SS is the way to go. Much cheaper to replace a $50 hub kit than to replace a $150 aluminum prop.
