"Feel The Bern".......
I guess Bernie was playing that "I'm in contention" card.... Wrong way to handle and he's certainly been around long enough to know it. Should have pulled in and asked before pulling ahead... That's about as rough as I have seen. Those Elite guys have really gotten used to fishing in each other faces lately. This one is pretty crazy unexplainable, unless there was some back and forth the previous day. Even then, still wrong.

It's my experience that is typical tournament mentality. Happens all the time. My buddy and I were fishing down a straight bank and this guy in a Bass Cat pulls in front of us no further than 75' and starts fishing the bank. I cranked up and pulled around him, looked at my buddy and in a very loud voice I said "I have never cut another boat off like this, but a red headed, bearded SOB in a Bass Cat showed me it's OK to do it."
I would wager than is some history here.

There is an unwritten rule about letting a guy in contention fish your spot, especially if boat draw becomes a factor. Certainly not a hard rule, but more of a gentleman's agreement.
I marshalled with Bernie once and he needed to fill a limit and came up on a spot being fished by another angler in a similar circumstance. He respected his space and came up quietly and a good distance away to ask the other angler for permission to fish the area. The other angler agreed so he inched closer to the spot. He didn't by any means blow right in like he did on lay lake per the video.
I am not defending Bernie, but there is always three sides to the story: your side, my side, and the truth.
With that said, it is likely Bernie didn't have much going on and had a small area and timeframe to get his fish, which he had eluded to the fog delay hurting his bite. He may have felt rushed to try to make things happen knowing he was in contention and kind of ignored ethics too.

I'm sorry, but I don't give a damn where you're at in the standing after DAY 1. Bernie was in 5th with 16-4 and Caleb was in 36th only 4lbs behind him. That aint your spot because you fished it day one. That's why they reverse the blastoff order days 1 and 2 so everyone has an equal chance to get to their first spot on either day 1 or 2.
Day 3 and especially day 4 are totally different, but DAY 2 nahhh get outa here with the I caught em here day 1 this is my spot and only my spot BS![]()
. I believe there are unwritten rules in tournament, bass fishing, especially at the higher level where a competitor that is higher in the standings in supposed to give up his spot for someone who is in the top five or 10 should that have been applied here??? And I agree the reverse launching order usually keeps this in check- I believe Bernie should have waited for Koopal to go up the bank and then he should have come in-I will say ever since the pandemic and massive amounts of people on lakes people do this shit all the time by me and then, if you say some thing they look at you like they didn’t do anything wrong-I recently brought this up to an older marine guy that was in an old ranger on a lake by me and his response to me was you don’t own the water don’t tell me what to do-I told him have some respect out here and honor peoples areas they are fishing he gave me the finger…. The bigger issue is people are not aware of etiquette on the water, and in this day and age when you try to help them understand that , they either wanna throw down or tell you to go f*ckyourself. What a sad world we live in this bullshit didn’t happen 10 years ago.
