Planning a trip to FALCON

Thanks Tommy for the kind words, Falcon is really something now only 9 ft low there is so much new water it looks like an ocean out there and the fish are scattered but still catchable if you can locate them. Won't be too long they will be hold up in all the new cover and you wont be able to reach them until it sours and runs them out. I am about to be BBT for a few weeks until my 2009 hits the concrete, then I am "southbound" and down and will be back in business for another season.

Debra, we are still planning our trip, there has been a ton of stuff going on at work cut backs and stuff so we have been a little distracted from our planning. We are going to try to get booked in the next week or so if you still have the first week in March open? Is that a good time of year to catch big fish and good numbers? I will contact you soon.......

Hey Jim the first week of March is not available now, contact me and we'll discuss further. With all this water in Falcon the fishing should be fantastic for the coming years. As of today she's only 4.5 ft from going full pool. I have not seen the lake this full since the early 90's. All those trees and bushes are under the water now that have sat on dry land for these past 15 yrs.

Sounds like I need to head too Falcon and fish it for the first time. Love scouting new waters. My wife and I have always wanted to fish that lake.

debra. bill from fredericksburg here...how long do you think it will be until the fishing stabilizes and us "average joe's can get down there and really get on them?? asked the guys at amistad the same thing and could get no guesses much less a firm idea....got a good friend coming from florida at the end of the month (5days) and REALLY need to put him on some fish....thanks and best of luck to you next year!

Hey Bill, well thats a very good question regarding both Amistad and Falcon. As far as Falcon goes I think you will perhaps not have a really good bite until the summertime, I certainly hope I am wrong, but with all the new water and if the lake stays at the current level (this morn just shy of 3 ft low) with all the bushes and trees that have been on dry land for 15 years now in or under the surface water I dont think the majority of the fish will be reachable in the spring. I certainly welcome the rising water, just not sure how long it will take to stablize the fishing. Glad I am boatless for awhile otherwise I would be beating a path to both lakes, perhaps only to be disappointed.

I have been to Falcon the last two spring breaks with my 10 yr old son, probably won't go back in March again. Both times the wind blew 3 out of 4 days to the point we couldn't get to areas that we wanted to fish cause the water was so rough. Looking forward to trying it again when maybe the wind isn't so bad, but March isn't the time for us.

Bill I would still give the "ole girl" Falcon a shot if I were you. Fishing is alittle tough but you could get on a boat load of them also. I have some of my customers from Arkansas making their annual trip to Falcon and will be there starting this weekend through next week, they are going to give it a try also. I will be on Choke this Saturday delivering my boat to my new buyer, you know Choke could be good also, heard the "froggie" bite is getting good. Good luck and let me know how you do where ever you decide to go.

thanks for the advice! we'll be putting in on choke around 2pm sat and will fish it sunday all day....then i guess down to FALCON!!! gettiing fired up...prolly stop sleeping at nite around thursday and will be pouring coffee in my eyes to stay awake on sat. lol
