    WATER IN LOWER UNIT, HELP!!!

I was removing some fishing line from my prop shaft when i noticed the seal behind the prop was loose. I removed the seal and water and a little grease or lube came out, so I decided to drain the lower unit. About two cups of water came out before I saw any lube. Could this be from the seal leaking? This is on a 1998 Johnson Venom 225. Also there are a couple metal o-rings inside the seal, are they supposed to be there? There is about a 1/16" gap between my thrust washer and the seal, should there be anything between them. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Seals are kaput! Fishing line will kill them in a second. Minimal that needs to be done is to have the rear bearing carrier re-sealed and have the LU pressure and vacuum tested.

Should I just replace the seal behind the prop or is there more to it than that. Can you recomend someone in the Nashville area, I would like to give the motor a once over while they are at it.

The rear bearing carrier needs to come out and replace the o-ring at the front of it also. That much water I would want it completely resealed. CandO is a sponser here, I don't know how close you are to Gallatin.
