Had a discussion today with a guy i know..Is the spawn over in central Mass??
We saw a lot of bass beds on dark brook but nothing on them...I also didnt see any fry anywhere...Does anyone agree that they moved up then backed off because of the weather??
was on a lake today in the berkshires water temp only 57 or so and I did not see any beds. I did have a few large mouth follow a crank in about 4ft. Smallies may be on beds but not able to see with all the wind.
Was too early on Dark Brook. Better weather and they would have been there. It looked like a lot of the beds were in the early stage.
You might be right on moving up then off due to weather Jerry. I had one on a bed first thing in the am. even saw sunfish on beds which usually go after largies. I think some may come up for a second try during some good weather but it won't be a full blown spawn..
Our two cents.. Jane and I think most of the fish in our area are in some kind of funk. The water warms up with the sun and makes the days longer, then we have the weather we have now which makes the days shorter and the water cooler ?
Now if you hit a bass on the head with a spinnerbait, he just could eat it, Right Jerry ???
I would have to say our area they haven't spawned yet. would have to think next week they would be on the beds hard
I think the weather has been the problem...... they have come up to spawn, but not all..... it maybe one of those years that you find spawners in late into June here on the cape.....
got one 3lb 12oz smallie of a bed today only one I saw and only saw one largie up on bed but spook and swim as so as lure hit the water.
the bass are messed up just as bad as we are i think..
