Re: BFL co anglers (SX 180)

7 ought to be able to tell you. I wish I had atleast done no boater for a year but I jumped into the boater side. One nice thing about no boat is that it doesn't require near as much time away from work as the boater side does. I have fished with folks from Jackson, MS to Lansing, MI and have never had a bad one. Now I am a pretty easy fellow to get along with just don't let me catch you dipping in to my Red Man and we will be just fine!! All the guys that I have gotten to try the no boat side have enjoyed themselves have all had good draws and learned alot. It is not a rule but most of my co anglers have always given me 20 or so dollars to help with gas which I would recommend to you. Also from my perspective about the only other thing that I can tell you is that usually your boater tells you I am going to make 2 more casts and then I am going to move start getting your stuff squared away that is the only thing that is a little aggrevating from the boat side, I had to wait 7 minutes for my co angler at a tournament to put up his rods, baits and get his jacket on after I had already told him I was going to make 2 more casts. But all in all it is a fun time you will meet some great guys and also learn some new bodies of water. But if you ever draw me and you are not having fun let me know we will go chase kini's or something!! I think it is something you would enjoy.

    I'll try:

you have to be open minded going into the event knowing that you will get the chance to learn a helluva variety of fishing styles from some pretty good anglers. I won over $8,000 bucks in 07' on one single technique I learned as a BFL co-angler from a guy up at Pickwick.

You will be riding with a boater ( one you probably don't know ), and will pretty much have to stay in the back of the boat unless netting fish. You may get paired with a guy who is open to recomendations from you or you may get paired with a guy who will do it his way or no way. I fished as a co-angler for two years and in that time frame I only had two boaters that treated me like crap.....but as long as they were netting my fish I really didn't care ( they both zeroed by the way )

Remember you will be in someone else's boat , so he / she may have special rules etc...about how much tackle you can bring and such. overall it's a great experience. You just have to understand that the guy in the front will have first cast at all the spots. You will boath be fishing for your own limit of bass, but you are only competing against all the other co-anglers. If you want to learn techniques and learn the lakes on the circuit then it's the way to go. hope this helps.

No, there is a draw the nigth before every tournament. Guess it could happen twice in one season but would be rare.

    Re: BFL co anglers (basscat247)

Nope you most likely will have a different boater in every tournament. I have been doing the BFL's for 4 years now as a boater and I have never had the same non boater in that time. For guys that work won't allow them time off it is great way to fish around the state. All the meetings don't start till 7.30 so that gives a person plenty of time to get to them and not miss much work. Plus if you make the top 40 you qualify for a no entry fee regional which in 09 will be Kentucky lake.

If you are a non boater and you draw what some people would call a D*CK. You do not have to sign his weight in card and that means his weight does not count. Most guys that I have fished with were really good guys. I have fished 2 BFLs and 1 Stren as a none boater. Most of these guys are just like us. Want to catch fish and win.
