    Check Engine Light w/ buzzer

1999 200 Ficht Model E200FPLEEN, while loading on the trailer the check engine buzzer goes off and the light goes on. Engine ran fine all day while fishing a tournament. Did not want to start on one occasion but started and was fine the rest of the day-no buzzers or lights. No maintenance performed prior to this, have been fishing tournaments on a weekly basis all summer. The launch was extremely busy yesterday so did not have time to research my problem. Good gas with sea foam in the tank, plenty of oil in the tank. Any suggestions as to how to attack this problem. Thank you Santa

Re: Check Engine Light w/ buzzer (santa)

You best bet is to have it hooked up to the software and have the code retrieved that was set. Lots of things can cause the check engine light to come on. With the number of problems coming up with water in fuel you could remove the fuel filter and see if there is any water in it. It could be that simple.

just how much oil was in there?
because if it did it just when loading the boat, the angle of the boat being loaded on the trailer could have caused the oil to shift setting off the "low" oil buzzer....just a guess

Thanks Jeff, there was plenty of oil in the tank, the light went on the check engine along with the buzzer. As soon as this weather lets up I am putting the muffs on it and start the engine to see what I get.

Everythings back to normal-found out that by having a hot foot sometimes the shift gets out of sync with the throttle-don't ask how but by starting the engine and shifting it to forward and back to neutral and then to reverse and then back to neutral and let run for ten minutes everything seems to be fine-with fingers crossed I hope this fixes the problem as it seems to have. Thank you to those people that gave suggestions, until next time. See you on the water

Interesting.... I had my Check Engine light and buzzer go off this weekend. after fishing all day, came back in to the Check in boat and slowed down, took my foot off the Hot foot and put it in neutral and idled up, then the light and buzzer came on. I turned it off and left is set a minute, then I started it back up, turned in my boat number and idled about 10 minutes to drop off my partner, then idled around waiting for my trailer...The light never came back on at all... So I wonder if I too had a problem with my hotfoot? I also had Seafoam in my tank. I was told that with these 2000 yr rudes to expect some bells/whistles to go off, they have built these motors (almost) to a point that you cannot tear them up too bad, as they will power down and not let you run over 1800 rpm.

    I have a 2000 rude (12/1999) 200 hp Ram Ficht Model E200FPLSSC sn: g04815316.

My check engine lite and horn went off when I was taking off from the dock last Sat. Shut it down horn stopped, engine running fine, full of oil, waterpump fine. Took off again same thing. Took off a third time no problems ran great the rest of the day. Its a 99 Ficht 115. Any ideas? Air temp. was around 38 if that has any bearing on anything.

the CHECK ENGINE light can mean a number of things.

IF there is stiff shifting linkage, cable out of adjustment, or shift rod adjustment or anything else that causes shift resistance, the light will come on if the shift interrupter switch is triggered for too long a time

    Re: (Mark Tr.)

Well Mark as stated in my last post, everythings back to normal, I believe the throttle placement was out of whack for need of a better explanation. After shifting from neutral to forward and back again things seemed to be back in order.
    Hope this helps
