NoAl - Sign up to fish Guntersville on November 12th

The next NoAl tournament will be at Guntersville on November 12th. We'll be launching out of the ramp on Wyeth Drive. Registration will begin around 5 am with "Ease off" at first light, which should be just a little after 6:00. Weigh in will be at 2:00 pm.

We also need to have a short meeting after the tournament to discuss next year's tournament schedule. I had really hoped that putting together a schedule after our November tournament for the next year would minimize scheduling conflicts with other committments but, frankly, it hasn't seemed to make much of a difference as far as participation is concerned. One proposal has been to reconsolidate with the SoAl group for the next year, and another suggestion has been made that we revert back to nominating and voting on a lake each month. Personally, I'm fine doing it either way. Just let me know a preference when you sign up.

    Confirmed Participants

    1. Avery Faile & David Scogin

    2. Robert Farrar & Derek Coburn

    3. Dennis Sandoval & partner TBA

    4. Alan Carter & Harry Speegle

    5. Paul Garrison & "Jimmy C"

Re: NoAl - Sign up to fish Guntersville on November 12th (AveryF)

I leave the 13th for Scottsdale, AZ for work. Not sure the expectant mommy at home will let me leave the day before I fly out. But I'll check.

Eric and I caught a lot of fish when we had the one there last November. We just ran 40+ miles each way to do it...

Well, crap, I really wanted to fish this one with you guys! My wife's sister set up a little getaway for the two of them to Washington, DC, that weekend to visit an elderly aunt. My wife flies out of Huntsville at 4:30 pm that day, so I don't think I can fish and still get her to the plane on time. Sorry, fellows.

Re: NoAl - Sign up to fish Guntersville on November 12th (AveryF)

Still don't know if me and Jimmy C. will be able to fish This one. But just looking at the new 2012 schedules out for the BFL's and BWS tournaments on the lakes we usually fish. They look something like this:
BFL CHOO CHOO BFL BAMA BWS NORTH AL. BWS TENN EAST
    G'ville 2/11 G'ville 2/18 G'ville 2/18 G'ville 3/17
    G'ville 3/3 Neely Henry 6/30 Weiss 4/14
    G'ville 3/31 Pickwick 9/8 Neely Henry 5/12
    G'ville 4/28 Weiss 7/14
    G'ville 9/15 G'ville 8/25-26
Hope this helps I checked these schedules because a couple of us fish these series and the BFL's especially have a 200 sometimes plus boat field where the eleites cut off at 100. Just something to consider. AND OH YESS AAAAAVVVVEEEERRRRYYYY FOR TTTTDDDDD 2012 Great job AVERY!!!!!!!!

Re: NoAl - Sign up to fish Guntersville on November 12th (AveryF)

We will try to be there.
    Alan & Harry

On lakes: I think any lake that requires a special permit and you can't buy a map for should be excluded from consideration. Just my 2 cents.

Pickwick, Guntersville, Wilson, Guntersville, Wheeler, Guntersville, Weiss, Guntersville, Neely Henry, Guntersville, Smith & Guntersville make a good list to pick from.

One way to set a schedule is to throw them in a hat and let Avery pull one out each month and post the winner.

Another way is to vote each month like the south does.

A third way is to "set a schedule" using tournament results for scheduling the lakes. I prefer this method and based on past results I would pick them as follows.

    My list would be:
    Jan skip
    Feb Smith (Dam) 50
    Mar Wilson 43
    Apr Guntersville 45
    May Weiss 88
    June Wheeler 14
    July Pickwick 61
    Aug Skip
    Sep Neely Henry 72
    Oct Mitchell with BBC South
    Nov Guntersville 45
    Dec skip

If Hartselle is the center of the northern group, the distances to each are shown (per Google). We cover every lake at least once and hit them at times when they have been good in the past. 3 east of I-65, 3 west of I-65 and 1 split by I-65 (wheeler). If people want to fish Bear Creek (or another of those lakes), then drop one of the other western lakes to make a place and keep travel balanced.

In the past, people from the west have fished more consistently than people in the east, so they might get an additional lake and drop the 2nd Guntersville tournament.

Just some thoughts. Take it or leave it. My 2 cents.

A final option that Avery mentioned is re-combine with the south.

    Let's hear others thoughts.

    Alan

I can't believe how fast this year has gone and how bad my timing has been for fishing the tournaments. I'm hoping to be able to make some next year. Here are some thoughts that have been rattling around in my head concerning next year.

    1. AMEN!!
    2. Agree
    3. Agree
    4. Good to see Guntersville in there twice - I especially like going out of Waterfront.

However, the lakes TeamTar suggests for March thru September (7 consecutive months) are all in the western half of the state. I realize many of you live there, but it's a long haul in the middle of the night for those of us who live in the eastern part of the state.

July membership tournament/cookout: McFarland has great facilities, but it's been there the last 2 years . How about somewhere more in the middle of the state for a change?

    Thanks for listening - Jim

Re: NoAl - Sign up to fish Guntersville on November 12th (ReelDoc)

I know that I am still overseas working way to much for a vote in this. nobody will come out at all from the northern club if yall join the southern club. It seems that they are skeered to go north of Jordan for some reason, lol lol. That would be a huge haul for you northern guys especially since you say east to west is huge driving distance. If it were me I would take those who have shown up consistently and let them pick 75% of the lakes to fish. The other 3 lakes do a poll on here, and maybe have a classic with a minimum attendance in order to participate. You could take a percentage from each tournament to be used in the classic. This might encourage guys to show up more if they know they have a chance for some good money in the classic at the end of year.

My wife came up with this idea. Why not draw for it? Put all the north Alabama lakes in the hat and have someone draw a lake for each month. The only thing we'd really have to decide is which ramp to go out of.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but in a previous club I fished in, we all voted on the lakes and gave them a numerical rank. The highest totals for X numbers of lakes got chosen for the schedule. Then we selected the month by the same type of vote. WE decided the launch the week of the event. Always worked out good for us.

Avery I have to work this weekend but I like your wife's idea. Just do a draw each month and let's see how the year goes. That will make us have to adapt to different lakes during different times.
