    DEAD FISH AT GUNTERSVILLE

Anyone know why the fish are dying at Guntersville. Was there this pass weekend and they had boats picking them up, would not want that job. Most of them was in Town Creek but they were up and down river but not as many. It was bass and drum mainly that we seen. We didn't catch as many fish as would like but did OK. Just too HOT for an old fart like me.

I was there 3 days last week and did not notice that. I primarily fished near Goose Pond and South Sauty creek though. The lake looked healthy to me.....grass growing rapidly.

Probably low oxygen levels. It happenes on Logan Martin and Neely Henry at least once a year when we have temps in the high 90's. Freaked me out when I first saw it.

Temps were around 90 in Town Creek but not in South Sauty creek. That could have cause in Town Creek

Don't know if this has anything to do with all the dead fish in Town creek, BUT a local game and fish officer was quoted at a local bait store saying that FLW had 60% of the fish die on them!! He went on to say that they should not be allowed to trailer their fish all way to Huntsville for weigh-in (Friday & Sat.). Also one well know pro was quote at the same store saying he caught all his fish early ( first couple of hours) then went to the weigh-in and waited in his truck?? Have not looked at results to see if there was alot of dead fish penalities?

This is the same story I was told by a friend . Did want want to post since I had no actual evidence . I thought that drive all the way to Huntsville was extreme also . Should not be done , esp with these temps ..
Hell of a way to treat a great fishery like Gunts .
