Lake Wheeler - Where to Stay??

I am planning on heading down south the first week in April to fish Wheeler for a few days. I was curious if anyone had any recomendation on a safe boat friendly place to stay. Also, any suggest launch ramps would be great.

    Thanks in advance.

I have stayed over on the loop with good results too, the jameson inn is nice and safe as well....but not as close to ingalls as the Holiday Inn.

On the other end, there is the State Park and a motel in Rogersville, but I cant remember the name of it.

Our bass club always rents several of the cabins at Joe Wheeler State Park. Plenty of boat and trailer parking around the cabin. It's also very easy to charge the batteries at the cabins. Kind of quite and peaceful there at the cabins too.

According what end of the lake you are fishng. Lower end, I would say state park. Upper end there are several places. are you scouting for a T? Just wondering, I think most of the GOOD fun fishing is one lake up. Wheeler is rock bottom now, but is scheduled to come up 15th april

Thanks to eveyone for the info. It is really, really appreciated!!!!

There are comments about it being at rock bottom and not coming up unitl April 15th. How far down??? Our intent was to scout out for a tournament later in the year. Will be be able to look around without tearing the boat up?????

    Thanks again

You can run the lake, but if you don't know the backwater go s l o w. Creeks and river's are navigable. Upper end of the lake has more hazards out of the main channel. Get a good map and use your head and you'll be o.k.
