    Weed spraying at Guntersville

Found this on another site and thought to share .

If you live in the Scottsboro or Guntersville area there is a meeting this Thursday night January 15th at 7:00pm at the Scottsboro Senior Center located in Jackson County Park. Some landowners are lobbying the City of Scottsboro to help fund ($90,000) a huge grass spraying in Roseberry Creek. The landowners have plans to eradicate the entire Roseberry Creek area (1500 acres). Not only around boat houses but undeveloped areas as well. If you fish Lake Guntersville or own a business that is supported by fisherman, the lake needs you to speak up. No one should be allowed to alter the lake just because they want too. If the landowners are allowed to spray herbicide wherever and whenever they want, this will be the death of Lake Guntersville as we know it. Please attend if all possible.

Re: Weed spraying at Guntersville (AlBasser)

You may or may not know that TVA has decided not to spray around "private" areas anymore, but will spray the "public" areas such as boat ramps and cut-throughs on the main lake. This decision by TVA likely spurred on the idea by these landowners, which could lead to every Tom, Dick and Harry spraying who knows what into the lake.

This will not be done by the TVA . It's going to be paid for by the wealthy land owners that have bought lots around the creek of Rosebury "spelling" . This is such a great area for good bass , hate to see it be destroyed .

That's what I meant - the decision by TVA to discontinue spraying has encouraged individuals to spray.

See if this link to the Huntsville Times outdoor writer works. It appears as if the property owners are trying to pressure TVA into changing its collectiive mind about discontinuing spraying.
