    Dissolution of the NoAl Chapter

there's a ton of water not apart of the Tenn river that is outstanding. wish we could be like it used to be, 10-13 boats enjoying all the alabama has to offer.

looks to me like the rebels down there have it going, they travel, they fish hard, and they have a great time. To me, that's what this is all about.

Hope everyone has a save and fun weekend, ROLL TIDE!

We have had minimal participation for a long time (myself included). Avery, maybe we should consider dropping the "Northern" division after this month and just fish with the South when we can. I know my work schedule has been very busy and will keep me from participating on a regular basis in the near future. If it had been on Wilson it would likely still be 4 or 5 boats, just different boats. Everybody (myself included) seems to be fishing close to home these days (except for Danny, Avery and a few more!). I know if I get a free day to fish I would like to try Neely Henry, Weiss, the Warrior River, etc. but no one will go to any of these lakes. Maybe we can discuss it some more after the tournament on Saturday. Just my 2 cents.

As much as I hate to say it, I've actually given it a lot of thought over the past several months and I think it's about time to disband the NoAl Chapter for lack of participation as well. I hope not, but this past Saturday's tournament may well be the last of the NoAl Chapter as we've known it.

I'll get with Al and see exactly what, if anything, we need to do to revert to a combined status with the SoAl Chapter.

I hate to see that happen but if that's what everybody wants that's cool with me. If some of the northern boys wants to fish the river let me know and hopefully I want have to work. I fish Sundays to. I enjoyed the few times I got to fish with y'all and maybe someday I can get some of my $$$ back from Harry.

Re: Dissolution of the NoAl Chapter (Eric B)

Well I personally think you have a couple different problems working against this format right now. And without out a change it is going to lack turnout. Several dont like fishing on the TN river which is cool. But if you take a consensus and look at the lakes that were consistantly voted for in the past with good turnouts you can see there are a top five or 6, and the same in the Southern group. A change is needed, so I think before someone QUICKLY sugggests disolving the group someone needs to search for a way to encourage turnout and participation. Just because some choose not to fish Smith is NO reason to suggest shutting it down LOL MG!

Hate to see that happen, but if that's the consensus, then let it be.

Good job Avery with everything you've done for it. Organizing anything, especially tournaments, can be a pain and takes a lot of time and effort.

So, what were the results from Smith?

Re: Dissolution of the NoAl Chapter (Kerry201pro)

This I think is happening for a couple of reasons.

    1) The members in North Bama may be spready a little thinner and creating a wider area of lakes too choose from.

    2) Fuel prices have been hurting

    3) there are allot of trails and clubs and wildcats in this area. I know that hurts quite a bit for a fact.

I know myself, 1st and 3rd weekends are general visitation for divorced parents. Now thats not a issue to anyone else. But that takes me out of every month if fished on a 3rd weekend. I know some suggested maybe we vote on a weekend, heck I dont know.

Eric said he worrks alot of Saturdays, that may be another reason for many. Who knows. Maybe some should suggest what might help them make more t's.

Maybe I am wrong. Maybe North Alabama is the only place that BBC club cant work ......

I just think instead of shutting the machine down because it's not working as desired right now is quickly pulling the rip cord. Maybe some tweaking or enhancement might revive it........... OK that enough of my soap box. Maybe someone else can share some thoughts

Re: Dissolution of the NoAl Chapter (Kerry201pro)

Jason I agree 100% It takes allot of time to organize and cordiante and Avery has done a good job for sure. He has done a better job that I could possibly ever do. Heck I cant make it to a T on time, much less run one LOL.

I also agree, if consensus says shut it down, then so be it. Like Eric, I just hate I wont have a chance to get some of my money back from Harry!! LOL x 100

Harry you can come fish the dead sea (Wheeler) anytime with me bro. :-)

Re: Dissolution of the NoAl Chapter (AveryF)

From an outsiders view, I have been wanting to fish with you guys for the last several months, My work is what is holding me back but that should change in November. I have also been trying to make it to a south Ala. tournament too but i can't get off to do it. I really wanted to make the so meet and greet tx to meet some of the guys. Fuel prices are not a problem for me since it is only once a month but the travel time is. Another hold back is i see no female anglers in your group as i fish with my better half and don't know how she would be received with the guys, some fish to get away from them for a few hours. but mine is my best friend. Maybe every third or fourth tx you could get the no and the so boys together in a central Al tournament. It looks like you have a lot of really great guys in your club and i can't wait to fish with you. I like the ideal of fishing lakes i have never been on and this is a great reason to try them. Hunting season is going to hurt you some but maybe we need to have a new members drive to try an let others know about this club and the bassboat central site as i just located it by accident a few months back. Never heard of it before but it (gambler boats site)has been a blessing to me since i buy used boats most of the time and the info i get there has saved me a lot of time and money. I don't know what the answer is but maybe hold off till after hunting season to see if you can salvage the club,

Re: Dissolution of the NoAl Chapter (sopper609)

Good post Michael and glad you found the BBC.

To touch on something someone else had mentioned....The reason we set the date as the third Saturday was that at the time everyone voted on that date as the best date to have a tournament and not interfere with other things. Well, that was a few years ago and schedules change. Instead of anyone coming up with a good idea to fix things (myself included), we're just dropping the entire 'division'. But, like I said, if that is what everyone wants, then let it be. Dissolve it and let this thread move on down the line so people that want to can vote on the Southern tournaments.

Re: Dissolution of the NoAl Chapter (sopper609)

    Very good reply Michael.

The SoAl has a meet and greet TX to let potential new members see what our club is about. It's not just an eating after the TX deal. Our last Meet and greet got us a couple of new members. I personally have some cards I give out to other boaters I meet at different lakes to invite them to visit the BBC website and maybe will get a new member out of that.

Michael as far as your best friend fishing with the BBC I know we all welcome her. I know one of our members has fished with his daughter before.

I belive if we combined again to the way it was we would have the same problem we had that made us split the first time. The NoAl staying up there and the SoAl staying down here.

Re: Dissolution of the NoAl Chapter (AveryF)

    Sorry to hear that Avery.

I love to fish the TN river lakes (G-ville, Wheeler, etc.). The BBC TN club guys fish KY Lake and Dale Hollow. Not so good for someone that loves G-ville. If I were a tad closer, I might venture down into the lower regions of Alabama, but I drive over 2hrs one way just to get to G-ville and Wheeler. I've fished two BBC tournaments with you all.

Take care and thanks for the effort you've put into it over time.

Avery, maybe we can take a vote. vote of weather or not to have a northern section and on what day is best and where to place the cutoff line

I love the Tenn river, that's the reason I joined years ago to learn more about G'ville and the rest and I have. it's my fav river to fish, but I do like to get to other places sometimes. If not for this site I would have never seen or fished upper bear and that lake is the big fish fersizzle. I can't wait to fish it again in T or not.

I know most want to keep fishing, BUT we have to have more than 4 boats.

for myself, I dont pull a boat(yet) but I will do everything I can to be where ever I need and help my boater more.

let's join and do what we can.

    fish on

    Re: (fishcraze)

I have thought about this for a while becasue I have seen the turnouts. If my memory serves me correctly there were some members that pushed for a Northern Division. After that I cant seem to remember seeing those people coming out and fishing or seeing/hearing them fish elsewhere on the days of the Northern gatherings. I know that everyone has a life and has things going on hell I have to drive to and from Atlanta every week. Gas sucks. Some of us have kid things to do. I see mine every other week. We all have to make time to do it. I go and fish even if the lake I voted for doesnt win. I travel to tournaments. I vote that it stays like it is and if noone wants to fish it then don't vote for it.

    Re: (Team Fishy)

Personally ( and selfishly) I would like to see it remain as two separate divisons. I perused the historical perspective and when it was one entity I could have probably only fished one of the events...Jordan. At least with the southern club I have been able to reach some of the sites.

Re: Dissolution of the NoAl Chapter (AveryF)

    Good post Michael.......

I am sad to see that you all are considering shutting down the Yank division......you are a great (well, most) group of guys.....I fear that if you do disband that I will never get a chance to see some of you ever again.

We (suthern boys) have had light turn outs before but never considered disbanding. Our fearless leader Jason hatched (we first thought he had lost his marbles) (we still think he "ain't ALL there") what we call our "Meet and Greet tx" two years ago and it has been successful for recruiting. This last M&G tx had 15 boats and netted some new folks.

Eddie's BBC card thing has worked also....we talk up the BBC club as we go around to other lakes and events. We always try to make everybody welcome when they do attend (with exception of Chad and Joey,....we can't seem to run them off, no matter how bad we treat them... ) Eddie just recently got a new winter fishing wardrobe with the BBC embroidery work. I think that is kewl!

I hope you guys can stay together.....you have a great leader in Avery and you guys have some of the absolute best fisheries in the land at your back door. Maybe with gas prices coming down some more of your guys will turn out more often. Maybe try a few things different,...different weekends....... maybe every other month or so a few of us sutherners will make the scene (we've done it before....we'll do it again, if you will allow us to).

I really wish you would go until the Spring and see what that era holds before making a final decision. If there is not a prescribed number of boats in a given month then just don't fish that month. The Spring could hold great promise.

Good luck!..........but if "quits" is the vote then know that we Rebels will always be glad to have you guys fish with us.

Re: Dissolution of the NoAl Chapter (AveryF)

As one of the newest members. I really hate to see this happen also. I have enjoyed the "just for fun" atmosphere that I have seen at the events. It seems as though the idea of lets get together, do a little fishing, have fun and enjoy the friendly competition regardless of where it is at has gone by the wayside. This layed back atmosphere is what makes this club different than many others and thats a good thing. All it takes is cooperation, and all cooperation needs is effort. I vote we keep what we have and figure out a way to make it work. Where I live, everywhere is a long way to go to fish, but I'll make the effort. Having a very old boat, my biggest worry has always been mechanical failure, therefore the NoAl Chapter gives me the best opportunity to enjoy these events. I really hope we can find a way to continue the NoAl Chapter. Just my 2 cents.

Maybe all these Yank need to bring their wives with them and who ever wins give the money to the wife. Then we know more of them will start showing up.
