Alabama "Take a Kid Fishing" License Plate

I just found a post in the BBC Lounge by Larry Rosser at AlabamaLakes.com about the proposed Alabama "Take a Kid Fishing" License Plate with a link to the Alabama’s Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division web site. The $50 committment fee has been paid by a corporate sponsor but you need to be one of the first 200 people to call to take advantage of it. So if the $50 payment has been holding you back, you no longer have an excuse!

I called as soon as I saw the post. They told me that I was only the third one that has called all week but that is one out of about 7 offices.

I called the office in Montgomery since I didn't know which region included northwest Alabama. I didn't ask but she never mentioned how many others had already taken advantage of the corporate sponsor's generosity.

I called today and put myself and my wife on the list. Hope they call me soon cause my tags will need to be renewed in April anyway. My wife and I had already decided to get new specialized tags anyway.

I'm on the list! The lady in Mont. took my info. She told me that all of the lists havent' been compiled yet, but took my info anyway...I hope I get one!

You'll get one. It just may not be a 'free' one. It may set you back the normal $50.

The gentleman that runs this for the state was at the B.A.S.S. class at Auburn last week and had a sign up sheet there for everyone.

Me too. I also found out who the 'corporate' sponsor was for the first 200. I've got to meet Mr. Floid and fill out my paperwork tomorrow.

I got a call from Ken with the dept of Conservation and Natural Resources. He talked to me about signing some paperwork to apply for my Take a Kid Fishing tag. I am meeting him at the probate office to get the ball rolling. So it looks like these tags are going to happen. I was told that they did not know when the production of these tags would start, but that it should be before september when I have to renew my tag.

Have you heard from him? I wonder how they're doing. I know he's going to be warmer than me this weekend. It's easier to track deer in the snow, but does that work the same way with bass? If it does, I'm looking forward to this Guntersville BFL!

Haven't heard from him but the fishing thing I don't think you can track them in the snow. Good luck and take plenty of hot hands. Looks like its going to snow on you. Remember slow down.
