    1985 Johnson 150 GT Help :-(

My problem is that when going into high throttle the motor boggs down like it is starving for fuel, which it very well may be doing. Then it shuts down. If I pump the primer bulb in time it will come out of it. (The primer bulb is getting soft while running.) Then will happen again about 5 seconds later. At low and mid speeds it runs fine.

This is what I have done so far:
    1) New plugs and wires
    2) Compression readings are Cyl 1-5) 85 PSI, and Cyl 6 has 80 PSI.
    3) Complete Deepcreep Seafoam decarb
    4) New Primer bulb installed

I am now leaning towards a new fuel pump. This is the VRO system right now. I plan on replacing it with the OMC Premix only pump.

Was wondering if it may be something else that I have overlooked.

About time for a 24 year old fuel pump to start dying.

Re: 1985 Johnson 150 GT Help :-( (ChampioNman)

I just pulled the fuel line off the VRO Pump, disconnected the plugs and turned her over. She is getting plenty of fuel/oil. Now I am thinking the carbs... May need to run a repair kit on this.

Its only at high throttle when it bogs down and the stalls. I can run her all day at low and mid speed. This is very frustrating.

Also I have changed the fuel filters as well.

At 24 years old, I think there is the possibility that a lot more could be wrong other than the VRO. (especially my old friend ChampioNman)
Been there done that with my 24-year-old XP. I hope that he will buy a manual for his engine, read, and be tenaciously patience, talk to the folks here on BBC and thoroughly diagnose the problems on his engine, rather than just throw parts at it to if this works or if that is maybe a supposed problem that I am experiencing.

Take a look at testing the stator.

Never knew the primer bulb needed to be going skyward. Now I have to figure out a way to make this happen. Thanks for the input DoferGofer.
