40 h.p. evenrude mod.# E40ELCO Ser.# G1009555 can anyone tell me how to drop the lower unit ? It will come down about 1" then it will stop. I put it in rev. dropped a bit more but still will not come off.

Where do you disconnect it at ? I can not find any way at the lower unit. Never did a omc. merc. and yamaha just drop down.

There is a little screw below the carburetors that you will have to remove in order to get the LU off.

Sometimes it's a lot easier just to remove the starter for easy access to the screw.
