    Staros Speeds on 294, 200xl and 201XL!!!

I am looking to upgrade my 285pxl Stratos to a 294 w/200, 200xl w/225, or a 201xl w/250. Would you guys let me know the sppeds of these modles. As i like having a smaller boat to get into tight quaters but don't want the rest of the field to blow me away. But i would sacrafice getting into tight quarters for additional speed and comfort.

    Thanks for all the help.

I have a 200XL / 225 HPDI combo. Prior to the Hydrotec mods I could run 78-79 loaded light by myself and 73-74 completely loaded down with two folks, full gas tank, and full livewells.

To be honest though, judging from your comments I think a 294 might suit your needs better. There's not much speed difference in the two boats when they are setup right but the 294 will get into tight quarters a little better.

Like I said though. I am willing to give up the tight quarters fishing if the speed and comfort is better.

05 201 pro, dual console and a 250 HPDI, 4 batteries 19 rods and 450lbs of ass will do 72 or so.

Empty it will do 70 if you can steer it.

fast and loaded, 201 is a good boat. Light it is difficult to make it go fast.

here's a great post discussing the 294 speeds with different props. http://www.bbcboards.net/zerothread?id=603193

I run 68-70 all day long with my 294 and 200 Opti. That's with 2 fat guys, a full load driving with one hand lol..by myself I've driven to 74 and change but get a little "eeked out" going that fast. For whatever reason there is a huge difference in my mind with that extra mph.

Also I just run a 27p tempest and don't push it too hard to the limiter. This boat needs to last me a long time :)

Agreed, set up for weight its amazing ride...but lighten it up and you better be a driver, it'll get a mind of its own. Thank God for hydro jack plates!

2008 201XL/250 E-tec HO 75-76 all day long loaded down. Light load +78. IMO the longer boat will make less ideal conditions more comfortable.

as above,As I had a 2004 200 pro xl ,2004 225 H) fast boat, needs driving time, now have a 2008 250 HO awesome ride, the 294 is a bullet also BUT the ride in rough water does not compare to the 201

Guess mine runs a little different. 75-76 loaded for tournament and empty will run 79+. Have bumped over 80 a couple times light. No reason that hull cannot be driven over 70 light. Just need the right set-up.

But to answer the original question, if you like a smaller boat that will run with the field and have a decent ride, the 294 would be hard to beat. Those guys are getting some amazing speeds out of them for only having a 200...
