You'd need AC for PC if you wanted to map from sonar logs.

The accuracy would be identical, as ACL uses the same data to create mapping to a ZLC.

The hardness & weed detection layer is pretty new (v1.35), I have ice up here - so I have not done any testing yet.

I do not have AC Pro, just STD.

I'm going to purchase AC Pro. My questions were assuming I had AC Pro. Just didn't want to have to run AC live and record sonar if there was no benefit or requirement to do so.

    Thank you for the response.

Good deal Mark, I was pretty sure what you'd referred to prior.

Well, the same exact soundings are used to build the map, live or on the desktop.

I have recorded a few logs this past season and I have run some areas using ACL and just recently did some map building using AC PC. (Cool beans!)

Once again, I'd like to thank Mike Insko for his efforts in making very well thought out, detailed, thought provoking AC PC Tutorials.

If it wasn't for Mike's work while he was a active HB user - I may not have ever bought AC PC for my stuff to use.

Be aware : The map building can be kind of addictive...

Part of doing good work, is the satisfaction you get from doing something well.

You don't need a pat on the back, or kudos from somebody else's "buy - in" to get that warm fuzzy!

Give James Metz @ Universal Mania a call (ext403) and leave a message for him - tell him Robert sent you for the "Pollock's Discount" and see if he can't work you a nice deal....

I just had a quick question or more of clarification. I have a gen 1 helix 10 SI that I used this past summer to do a fair amount of mapping using autochart live. I love it but I have forgotten to turn off the recording before heading down the lake a few times so the points are not any good. This requires the PC program to fix correct? Also if I wanted to convert this map so that I could view it on units that do not have autochart live built in (like my ICE 385ci) I need the PC program for that as well correct? I just wan to make sure that I can do what I am wanting to do before purchasing the program. Thank you for your help.

Yes, you'll need the PC program to create maps for non ACL compatible HB units.

You can use the PC program to remove bad data points and you need to switch your ACL view to raw data to delete a bad chunk of data.

You will probably need to remap where you deleted the bad data from as it nukes it to the last place you stopped recording IIRC.

So I guess it's a pretty good thing to start and stop regularly - to "get in the habit" and have smaller chunks if you need to remove bad data points .

So you are saying that I can't delete individual points out of a recording that are bad I would have to delete that entire recording back to the last time I had stopped it? If that is the case it kind of sucks but I guess it will teach me to be more careful in the future to stop recording and make the recordings in smaller chunks.

Anyone else getting this error? This is my first experience with Autochart. Data was recorded with Helix 10 G2N Mega.

    Here is HBird's response...

    "Good morning,

I do apologize that you have encountered this error message while trying to import your Autochart Live .acu files. It has been brought to our attention that when trying to load the new ACU files (AutoChart Live files with Vegetation and Bottom Hardness) the attached is an error message that you will receive until the Autochart program is updated. I do not have an ETA on the release of the update. Just make sure that you have your program registered under your myHumminbird account to gain access to the update.

If you do a sonar recording the recordings can still be imported into the AC program.

As soon as the updated version of the software for this fix is released you should get an email of the update and the release date.

    Thank you"

    0 Boy.....

Can you still record W/ that (hardness & weeds) layer turned off??

I am probably going to have to wait until spring before I do any more boating for a while, as there's ice on many lakes around me.

Hbird said I can continue recording and when the program is updated use that data. I think or at least its my understanding that tracks don't record bottom hardness. I did record and save several tracks but don't see them saved on my Zero Lnes card? Hope it doesn't take long to update.

Tracks are saved in the unit's memory just like waypoints are.

Then how do you get them to Autochart program or HumminbirdPC on your computer?

I am using an Onix 10 & Onix 8. I ordered and received Auto Chart Pro. I have not opened the box but the cover states"Featuring Bottom Hardness And Side Imaging" It doesnt say anything about vegetation & I don't see any copy on the box indicating what version of the software this is. 2 questions: Is there a way to determine if I have vegetation capability? If not, is a software upgrade download available with vegetation?

I can't clear all loaded data and start a new Autochart session on my PC I've followed the instructions to no avail. I have also tried quitting the session, restart the app but prior loaded data is still there. I am using Autochart Pro version 2016-1. I have even tried reinstalling the autochart app. Any and all assistance appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

You got it. You probably have version 2014-1 go online to download latest version which is 2016-1. I do believe you have to register your products to download updates or shoot me a PM if you dont want to register.
