Setup help for 1992 Javelin 389T

I have a 92 Jav 389tT with a 92 Johnson 150 Faststrike. Has a Raker 24 and with a fully loaded boat at 5500 rpms I can only get about 51 mph, gps not speedo. Just wandering if i go to a 26 pitch prop would it get any more top end?

try a 25p first. I think you should be around 60ish with that set up.
    j/p or no ?

your rpms are right on but you prop must be slipping bad you should see 59 to 61 with half tank of fuel all you tackle and gear. do you have a jack plate ?
I have very same rig I have a jack plate and have to set the prop 3.5 below pad. If I raise it higher it slips and looses 4 mph due to bow drops. Im currently thinking of having more cup added and depitch to a 23 on my Raker.
Ive tried 26 rakeer was just too much and with a 25 renagade 4 blade I turn it 5600 but cant get but 55 mph that prop needs lots of cup added and work to get the hull and bow to lift so speed will incress.
    good luck!

You should be able to run 60 gps and 65 gps with a 23 -p tempest plus with a # 6 inch JP and set motor at 3.25 below pad .

Re: Setup help for 1992 Javelin 389T (basslt)

I have a 1997 389 w/ 150 FastStrike with the same prop, but w/6" jackplate. 5500 RPM I get about 60-61 consistently on GPS, except in this Texas heat, then it's more like 56-57. I asked this question last year about my prop, and Todd (formerly of C&O) replied that Raker 24 was the perfect prop for the boat/motor combo. It could be the jack plate makes the difference, but I'm no expert. Good Luck!!!
