Before & After - Motor Swap

Swapped my 200 hpdi series 2 for a mercury pro xs. Wow, did i learn some things doing it myself. I feel like an expert now on the Evolution gauges. Thanks to Carol @ c&o and Don Weed with European Marine for the help. The guys at Actica Corp were helpfull aswell. The folks at Stratos were useless .

+1 We have had real good luck with the Yam

It is quite a job to convert two different engines in a boat, several hours of laboe.

Re: Before & After - Motor Swap (DB13)

the yamaha treated me very well. been running them since 2003. Never had an issue with this one. i just ran across an opportunity to swap that wouldnt cost a fortune. it was more or curiousity. i can tell you now which one is faster on the same hull and all other comparisons aswell. here is what i know so far.

the merc is alot quiter and smoother running.
the yamaha wins the holeshot by a long shot
the mercury has alot more midrange get up and go
yamaha parts are cheaper and easier to hook up and install

thats about it so far. when post more later

The holeshot being slower doesn't make any sense to me. Must be propped for the 80+ runs.

I know. My Stratos Merc combo has a good holeshot....I think

I know it is a lot better then my Stratos Rude combo was anyway.

Gotta admit I think your boat looks 100% better with the Merc hanging off the back... ... ... Dan
