Need help on deciding which brand of Jackplate

I have an 06 294 Proxl w/ a 200hp VMAX. I had an older (at least 5-6 yrs old) Detwiller On-the Water Series Jackplate that I bent the top support bar on and now I need to replace the Jackplate. They have redesigned this unit and the replacement parts don't fit.

I recently purchased a Rite-Hite 6" plate and found out that not all JP's raise the motor just by installing it. What I mean is, with the Detwiller set at the lowest setting and the engine at the highest (just to clear the hydraulic lines) I was already at 3.5" below pad, which was ok because I still needed to go up a little. With the Rite-Hite I have the engine at the highest setting and the JP also at the highest setting and I'm at 3.5" below pad with no more adjustment left.

    So here's my question....

What do I need to do to get the setup 'back in line', so there is some adjustment in the setup. Do I need to add something between the transom and the JP or do I just have the wrong JP for this boat. I now realize the 294 transom sits low to the water and I may need a different brand of JP which is too bad, I really liked the design of the Rite-Hite.

What Make and Model JP are you 294 owners, or dealers, installing on your boats to get the needed height of the outboard?

I would help, but the name of the town you live in is a curse word around my house...sorry. ROLL TIDE!

Ehhh...but since it's time I guess I'll see if I can help. Just adding something (spacers I assume are what you are talking about) between the transom and the plate will not help you. The farther you set the motor back, the deeper it is actually pushed in the water. The transom has a little bit of negative angle built into it.

Slidemaster is what a lot of the 294 boats come with now for the manual plate.

I've never seen a problem from anyone not being able to raise their motor high enough on a 294. Are you sure you have the measurements right? With everything raised as high as it would go, could you snap a few pics for us to see the mounting and also maybe of you doing the measurement? It's really hard to diagnose things like that on the computer. Sorry I can't be more help.
