buying a javelin?

I have never owned a glass bass boat and I was thinking of buying a used Javelin Renegade 19' with a 150 johnson and 12 inch jackplate. I realize javelin is no longer in buisness, is this do to quality issues? The boat looks like its in nice condition and has only had 1 owner. They are asking 7500. for the boat. Should I stay clear of these boats. I want to be in the 6-7 thousand range so its tuff to buy a ranger unless its from the 80's for that price. Any advice is appreciated. thanks , John

From what I have read, the Javelin and Stratos are very similar. I think parts are still available thru Stratos. What year is it?

Last year I purchased my 2000 17 Vindicator with a 150 hp Evinrude Ficht for
$6000.00. It's a small boat, in great shape. No payments!! It's fast and gets the job done.

I had a 389SE for years and it was a great boat. I don't know about the 12" of setback, you might want to wait for the experts about that, I had a 6" plate with a FastStrike 150 on mine. There are no quality issues that I am aware of and I can't help you with the price but I know if you end up buying it, you shouldn't be disappointed.

My understanding is Javelin went the way of the Oldsmobile as it did with GM. OMC decided to discontinue Javelin and continue with Stratos. I have a 1997 Javelin 389TE and there are no quality issues. They are great boats, and you will find lots of support and information on here. The Javelin people on here are great and an excellent source of info. Also, C and O Marine, BBC Sponsor, has a lot of Javelin parts. They are extremely helpful with excellent customer service. I had an 2001 18' javelin and it was a great little boat. I wouldn't hestitate to buy a Javelin that passes an engine / hull check. Good luck.

You will not go wrong with the Javelin. I have had my 389T for a few years
now and i still love it today, Best part about it ITS PAID FOR. They will catch fish
just like the expensive rigs for a whole lot of less money.

no issues with my javelin 379te. I've had it for 3 yrs. now without any issues at all. Fast hulls, great ride, and good overall quality.
