Hotmaps Platinum south and HDS gen3 issue

I am working with navionics to solve this issue. Bought first Hotmaps Platinum south chip in mid August, updated all 3 categories on chip before using it. When loaded onto Gen 3- 9, with latest software, map would not show photo overlay of land mass around lakes. After discussing with Navionics support, they had me send in screenshots and then asked that I remove the "data" file from charts folder and reinstall the chip to see if that corrected the issue. It did not, so they said the chip seems to be bad, and they sent me a new replacement chip in mid september. I installed the chip without updating it and the photo overlay function worked just fine. I then updated sonarcharts only on the chip(took 12 hours on my slowspeed internet), reinstalled it and still had photo overlay. I visited someone this past weekend with a true highspeed internet and updated the entire card, sonarchart, nautic..., and community edits, got home, reinstalled the card and found that I no longer had any photo overlay function. I recontacted Navionics, they had me again remove the "data" file and try the chip again on my unit. It still had no photo overlay function. I tried it on each of my units and got same result. I reported this to Navionics support and am waiting for next step from them. I am sure they will replace the card at the very least but they may have to fix some software or data on the cards or to update process before the issue is resolved? Is this a widespread problem or am I just lucky and got the only 2 chips that do not like gen-3 units after being updated? Seems like the problem is likely related to the nautical or community edits updates since I had the function before I updated these 2 sections on the second card. No way to tell on the first card since I updated it prior to using for the first time. Anybody else seeing this. I am sure Navionics would be interested to know, Some may have the issue and are just ignoring it if they do not care about the photo overlay function?

I understand that not all locations have the photo overlay's. Toledo Bend definitely has it. The second chip had it for Toledo Bend before I did the updates of the nautic charts and community edits?

Unless something has changed, updating only has affected the maps and Community Edits, not any of additional features that the Platinum cards have.
I do not have a current version, I think I got mine in 2012 and have updated and renewed it a couple dozen times.
Platinum was the only card that could have Sonar Charts originally when that program started. The Navionics+ cards came later.

Put me in the same boat as basscfo.....when i bought my card back in April i had the satellite overlay for Toldeo also.....i updated the whole card early summer and the overlay for that area has disappeared....so there is something wrong with the update or whatever it is to make the aerial disappear....i just updated again last month and it is still missing, so i'm saying that have not fixed it, in my opinion.

Hey guys, for those who may not know, Navionics allows everyone to view their maps for free by simply visiting the WebApp on the Navionics.com site. View both the NauticalChart and SonarChart layer to see the newly enhanced mapping available for download. Awesome feature for traveling tournament anglers and those looking to develop their plan of attack the next day on the water!

I have experienced the exact same thing for both Rayburn and Toledo, after updating. The strange thing is while I cannot do conventional depth shading on Rayburn or Toledo, I can do it on other lakes in the South region. To get any kind of depth shadiing (Rayburn or Toledo), I have to turn off Colored Seabed. The shaded depth range will then show up as white and everything else as blue. I have decided to just live with what I have. Not the best, but better than nothing.

I provided some screen shots to Tommy and he was (is) going to work with Navionics, but haven't heard anything back in a while.

I added a lake to my 2GB Navionics+ card yesterday morning and it had no HD contours. That location is HD as I have it on several other cards and it is HD on the Web App.

I figured the download server was being updated when I did that so I waited until afternoon and just did an update and got the HD contours that time.

I have the same shading issue as you describe on TBend and Rayburn also. Must turn off colored seabed to get depth shading and only have one shading min/max depth option to designate.

For Bandit 53, I have not forgotten you and did send multiple screen shots including Lat/Lon... escalated to Navionics. I have seen issues of Plat cards being 1/2 Navionics + and then in the same screenshot...the other 1/2 is a full featured Plat map. Night and day. I did send those and am sure they are looking at it but as of now, I have had no response or solutions. It may take some time to investigate.
Here is my data orocess..Last spring I did all of my event screen shots (at least 25 or 30+ new sample shots) ...for the Nav+ and Plat...perfect in all cases. Then on one of the Navionics updates, the issue of the divided maps obviously happened.
I did not see it immediately so I do not know which update caused the issue. Then I found it and started searching, it came up showing the faults on multiple lakes.

The initial idea was that it was Lowrance software updates. If that was accurate, then any earlier Lowrance updates should be fine....SO...I have three new Gen 3's, I changed each to a different software version, going back I think as far as 2.5 or so. Now all of the Gen3 were different. (The current updated Plat card with issues)...was the same on all Lowrance units witht the same issues on all different software versions. I forwarded this test result to Navionics. No doubt they will get it resolved so I am waiting to hear back.
I will post here when I get more information...pls know that I did follow up and did the tests to send to them. I updated the Plat card a couple days ago again just to check. Same result.

Sure thing, glad to try to help with it.
Navionics is very responsive to issues so what I suspect is that since this glitch is showing up on multiple regions, it may be more complicated and needing time for their team to dig into it. This is all guessing since I do not have anything to do with their engineering..but...No doubt they want it as perfect as it can be so I am sure it will get figured out.
Basscfo has been correct on the info on Toledo and Sam Rayburn which is different in some ways but similar in others to what I am seeing. There are other lakes having issues as well.
I suspect the single gremlin in this is affecting multiple lakes, maybe at random which makes it more difficult to pin down.
I am getting calls and emails on it outside of BBC as well so it is not limited to just a few guys from here.
When I have an update, I will post it immediately.
    Thanks

I'm having a simple problem that is frustrating. I can not zoom in or zoom out to look around a lake. I can not move the cursor in any direction to search an area. When I try to zoom out my map stays the same distance and my view is just tilted. When I try to move my cursor to the left and right to explore nothing happens. My boat is always stationary. The only thing it allows me to do is tilt forward and tilt backwards. Which is basically useless.

The Lowrance maps allows me to explore. But I just payed $199 for this Navionics Plantinum and would like for it work.

This his is just a simple setting change. What do I need to do?

I am not sure I understand all of the description, BUT, for starters. Make sure under VIEW menu on your Lowrance graph...uncheck 3D and look ahead on the menu and see if that helps

I agree with Tommy. Never heard of that ever being any kind of Navionics issue but sounds more like the unit itself. At that I too don't think anything is wrong with the unit and you're probably in 3D mode. Please verify so we can make sure you're all good to go.
