    New Stratos family member

Well guys, I finally did it

After almost two years of lurking and reading, I have made the plunge. Might not be as flashing or as quick as some of your boats, but she's all mine (and the banks)

Stratos 186XT with Yamaha 115. Upgraded the trolling motor right at the beginning, and had C&O install the recessed TM as well as a couple other goodies.

Speaking of C&O, a big thanks to Russ for putting up with a thousand and one questions and phone calls. To Dan for the inshop training and to Bubbu for the on-water demo and to Billy for checking out the motor for me. You guys took great care of my family and I. I don't regret the almost 4 hour drive to do business with you.

Ok enough of the credits, here she is

You may not be able to see it, but there is a Hamby's under there also

With my son assisting (Vanna?), here is a better view. Water pictures soon.

Notice the 24 volt TM with recessed control. Also Humminbird 565's at both the bow and console.

Again the 565 on the console

Josh here, giving us a tumbs up, wanting to know when we can launch her and break out the rods and gear.

    Thanks again to C&O

    See ya on the water

Congrats on the new ride.....I'm sure you and Josh will spend alot of quality time in that boat!!!!

Heck...traveled all the way down to C&O from New Jersey to buy a used boat and got a chance to experiance first hand what C&O was all about.

Re: New Stratos family member (TuckLive)

    Tuck,

I spent a lot of time comparing the 186 and the 285. While I liked the 285 a lot, for my purposes, I felt the 186 was by far the best choice.

I upgraded a few things to get me closer to the features that I liked about the 285, but still kept the bigger forward deck, shallower draft and lower price of the 186. The 2009 model 186 should have a few of the extra features that I wanted, but Stratos (like everyone else) upped the price. I was able to get C&O to do the updates for me, and still come out cheaper with the 2008 than if I waited for the 2009. Plus, I have it now, and hope to be in the water soon. By the time the fall fishing picks up, I will be comfortable, and in the water.

I have been fishing from the bank and the back of the boat for a long time and am sure looking forward to working the bow for a change. My son is just now getting old enough to want to go. He will mostlikly only fish for a few minutes, then play his DS, while I fish. So long as I don't have to fish him out of the lake more than once per trip, we are good.

I really like the boat, and figure after I have a couple years of seat time, I'll be back looking at something a little bigger and faster, but for now I'm thrilled.
