I took my boat out for the first time this year and noticed the trim wasn't working. After messing with it a bit, I noticed the area where the relays sit in the back of my boat were clicking when I was hitting the trim button. The previous owner told me the boat had held a bit of water at one point when he was trying to find a new boat cover (left the drain plug in). I checked out the relays and they were covered with a really sticky substance (tree sap?). I went to NAPA and bought a 2 new relays, but they don't seem to be doing the trick. It looks like the sockets the relays plug into have tree sap all through them as well, but I'm not sure if I can just go buy 2 new sockets and replace them.

Has anyone here had similar problems? I am just looking for a little guidance and I'm not much of an electrician.
