    Console Help

My fishing buddy has a 1994 Stratos 275 Pro XL. It is either 17 or 17 1/2 foot boat and has a depth finder built into the dash. Unfortunately, it does not work, even though it does light up and looks like it will. My question is how do you get to it to take it out to have it fixed or replaced? The fiberglass dash has a black plastic molded cover where the depth finder and all the gauges are. It looks like you have to remove the windshield and steering to remove the black molded part. Then, you have to wonder about the wiring to all the gauges.

It does not look like good design to me. What is the proper way to remove the depth finder?? Thanks for your help>

My 04 is the same way. To get to any of the gauges you have to take off the windshield, then remove the face that holds all of the gauges from the fiberglass console. I also had to remove the steering wheel to get mine off. It is a real pain in the ass cause once you get it off you wont be able to move it much because of all of the wires. You really need a second set of hands to try to hold the cover up so you can reach under it to remove the gauge or fishfinder nuts that hold it in place. Mine doesnt have a fishfinder in the dash but I would assume it is held in by sometype of bracket that you will have to remove from the back of the dash. THen it should slide out the front. It takes a little time to get it all apart but its not rocket science. It goes back together much easier than it comes apart. It took me about 30 min to replace my tach when it went out. 25 min to get the old one out and 5 min to put it all back together with the new one in.

Right now we do not know if the unit or the transducer is bad. We certainly will consider it if the head unit is bad. Thanks for the offer.

If you have a working X22a I would be very interested.

The one in my dash works but it has lines through it on the left side that go from the top to the bottom. They go right through the depth measurement.

I plan on buying a new unit to mount beside the console but would love to have the one in the dash work especially since I have the thru hull trans already in place.

Let me know what you want for it and I would be glad to pay with Paypal.

    Thanks,

    Re: Console Help (coloradoman25)

Sounds very fair to me. My main concern is that nothing else really fits in this dash hole and I want it filled with something that functions.

    My e-mail is bps_ky@yahoo.com

E-mail me and let me know where to send the $$ to.

I hope to get some pics of my boat on here in the next couple of days.

    Re: Console Help (Stratos282DC)

    Chris,

Looks like I will be snowed in later today so I am going to mess around with the console to get the old unit out. I need a new PSI gauge too so this will be a good time to change both.

IM me and let me know where to send my address and your money to.

    Thanks again.
