Not sure but I really like mine on those odd angled ramps were everbody else is repositioing the trailer or trying to lift the bow over the fixed roller.

When & why? did they stop? Seems as they had a good concept and went to the fixed roller.

    Re: Stratos trailers 1996 (Dover)

i have a 1995 - 201 stratos it has the same thing. i really don't have an opinion on the spring loaded bow roller. but i do have a question. how do you attach a safety chain, strap, turnbuckle ? anything to have a second means of securing the boat to the trailer. when i first bought it i attached a 900 lb safety strap from the safety hook on the trailer to the bow eye on the boat. any bounching at all the strap would break into 2 pieces. we all winch straps break also. BAM there goes the boat. i guess you just have to replace the winch strap frequently. later all JOHN

I use and extra safty cable. I went to a trailer supply and bought new cables for the towing setup and used one of the old safty cables, it has a loop onone end so I just put a bolt thru it and the welded safty loop and went around the bow roller mount once to take up slack and hook it on the bow hook along with the strap.

I use a turnbuckle with a clevis attached to the hoop below the winch base and the other end of the turnbuckle is attached to the eye on the boat. Just winch the boat on the trailer, crank the turnbuckle tight, your done.

Set the HOOK!!! They ain\'t got pockets!!!

It was used because the older Stratos boats used OMC trolling motors and they hung over the bow far enough that it would hit the bow when the boat came off the trailer and unless the bow stop was spring loaded, it would break off the plastic piece on the front of the trolling motor bracket...
