    Trailer ball height ?

I have a 2006 285proxl. The trailer says that the coupler height should be 18 inches. Is that measured from the top of the ball or the bottom where it bolts to the receiver?

Normally a bassboat needs the top of the ball at 19-21 in off level ground. This allows for the squat from tongue weight.

I tow my 18 ft Stratos with a F150. I have a 3/4 rise draw bar, never any problems.

If it says coupler height I would measure from the coupler and not the ball... now the question is from the top or bottom of the coupler

Exactly, the trailer states the measurement. I am just not sure where to make the measurement. Right now my receiver is at 18 inches but that makes the top of the ball at about 22 - 23 inches. The boat seems to look like it is a little high in the front when towed. But the 285's seem to just look that way the way the trailer is made. I dont have any problems with the way it is now. I was just wondering what was the correct way to measure so I would know it is right.

I know I'm changing gears a little here but . . You could just get one like this http://www.hitchsolutions.com/....html and adjust it any way you want. I go from the boat to the camper and back again in nothing flat, and each have a tow height difference of about 8 inches. Also, you can adjust the height while attached to the truck, takes out the guesswork when towing something for the first time.

FYI, I got mine cheaper, just the first link I found . .
