Guys, I've got a 2000 Javelin Renegade 20 (single) with 225 Johnson HO, 6" jack with a 27 Renegade prop at 3.25" below pad. Everyone I've talked to says that this is 75 mph boat but I am not seeing it with the current setup. Any recommendations?

The Renegade is not a speed prop. What rpm's are you turning? My suggestion would be a 27 Tempest or TXP, and possibly a 26 Raker II. The four blade Renegade will help with handling, but you'll need to swap to the three blades for more top end.![]()

Thanks for the help. I could get 6000 rpm an 67 mph. Is my jack plate too low at 3.25" below pad?

And, if you're spinning a true 27 to 6,000, you will probably want to look at a 28 Raker II or 28 TXP. I ran a 28 Raker and 29 TXP on my 200 Pro w/ 225 H.O. E-TEC. The Johnson H.O. is a little different animal so I don't think you could spin the 29 pitch.

Thank you for you willingness to help. I wasn't paying attention the the psi. I will check it and get back to you. What is the acceptable minimum psi?
I'd like to see it around 18 on that motor.
Jason Phillips
Okay, I ran the boat and I was seeing 30+psi at 6100rpm, 67 mph. I adjusted the jackplate from 3.25" below to 2.5" and the top speed was only 63 mph! I think the prop(12x27 Renegade) is the root of the problem. Before I waste anymore of your time, I am going to borrow a Raker 26 and play with it. It will be Wednesday afternoon before I get back online to let you know how it works. Thanks again.
Watch your rpms. The 26 Raker may not be enough prop. With that boat, 3" or so will probably be about as high as you'll want to go.

You should try a 28 Raker and/or a 28 TXP. That boat will really move once you get the setup right.
Kenneth
Thanks Kenneth. You guys are awesome for helping out. I've also found a Ballistic 27 to try out. I'll try to find a 28 Raker or TXP as well. I'll play around with both props and get back to you Wednesday night. Thanks again guys.![]()
I had a 99 Renegade with a 26 Raker and my best speed was 72 but its a rough ride. Lots of chine walk..You will need allot of wheel time to run at that speed.
Thanks to all of you for helping! I was able to play with the Raker 26 and here is the best I could get: 71mph at 6200rpm and 35+psi(does that seam high?) at exactly 3" below pad. These numbers were with a 1/2 tank of fuel, tackle and 12 rod/reels. I am having trouble finding a 27 Tempest or 28 Raker to test. It looks like I may be stuck until I can find a different prop to test. Any suggestions?
I was able to play with the set up on my Javelin Renegade 20 at lunch and here is what I got:
26p Raker at 3.25" below pad and reached 73.5mph at 6250rpm and water pressure of 45psi. The air temp is 70 degrees today and it has been no higher than 48 degrees during my previous tests. I then tried a 27 Mazco (4 blade) and reached the exact same top end but at 6050rpm and water pressure at 50 psi. It seems like I am getting close, but the water pressue puzzles me. Still looking for a 27 Tempest or 28 Raker. Would I see any improvement by increasing the size of my jack plate? Currently I have a 6" slidemaster.
