I am changing the steering cable on my Stratos 179v fish and ski. I am having trouble getting the old cable out. I does not seem to have enough room to slide out of the motor. Will I have to loosen the engine from the boat? It seems that is the only way to make enough room to get it out. It just seems like a lot of trouble but that is the only thing that I can think of. Any other suggestions? THanks in advance.
Every one I have changed cables on unbolting the motor usually has to be done. Is a little annoying but if you happen to have a car motor hoist it is pretty easy. Over at the shop we have a "puller" we call it that we can thread into the top of the flywheel to hold the motor. Some motors will have a ring you can hook to. Good luck
