    Trim fuse on 225 etec

My brother has a 225 etec that keeps blowing the fuse on the motor for the trim while he is running down the lake. When he stops the trim wont work and the motor wont start. This doesnt happen all of the time but every 2 or 3 trips. Anyone had this problem?

The E-TEC has only one fuse.
Could you post a model and serial number Please?

Its a 05' 225 etec HO. The trim fuse keeps blowing, is it really important for the serial #'s. Please Help !!!!!!!! Am I the only one who has this problem?

These guys are trying to give you good information as to how to determine what the problem is. parts swapping is expensive. So Model and Serial # please.

A model and serial number would help, but keep in mind that most fuse blowing is from keyswitch, gauge, and boat wiring problems, not the motor.

Is this an older boat on which a new E-TEC was installed?

If so, was the complete wiring harness replaced in the boat with a new one, or was the old one reused?

Were there any new gauges, electronics, or any work done under the dash or with the boat wiring before the fuse problem started?

Re: Trim fuse on 225 etec (SEAHORSE)

I had a problem with my 05 etec blowing the main fuse. It was caused by a exposed wire. When I took my motor in to have the therostat recall/upgrade done the mechanic had to move the wiring harness out of the way. When he did, it chaffed a wire in the harness and blew the main fuse in the motor. Hope this helps.

After I took the boat in to have the throttle cable fixed it started blowing fuses. The boat is a 05 z20 ranger.

I would say the problem could be related to the throttle cable installation.
