What props are you guys running?

I'm thinking it's time to re-prop my 286 single console with a 175hp Rude on the back, just curious what some of you all are running? I've currently got a Renegade 25

I've got a 17.5' 275 with a mid 80's 2.4 liter Mariner. I'm running a 27P A40 Tempest (one of the old ones with the rubber hub). Best speed I've got so far is 72mph (GPS) turning a hair over 6K RPM. The hole shot is kinda slow, but once up, it flies pretty good.

Thanks for the replies. The holeshot is pretty sluggish right now, and it does move along fairly well once up on plane though. The 286 is a pretty light hull

Yes Michael the 286's are light one of the best handling boats I ever owned was a 95 286 with a 150 Fast Strike , glad the seats worked out for ya. A 24 Raker will work well too, the Renegade was a decent prop great hole shot but gave up a bit on the top end

Nick, we're gonna need some more info to truly try to help ya. We need your current top rpms, with the 25 Gade, also your prop to pad measurement, and water pressure @ WOT.

    Re: (Bassmeister)

Prop to pad is approx. 4 inches. Current top RPM's was 6200-6300 at WOT did not get a water pressure measurement. When I posted in the prop forum, Mark seemed to think that my tach was off as he had a hard time believing that I was spinning a 25p that fast.

Water pressure at WOT hovered between 17-19. I trimmed it up as far as I felt comfortable, did not get to the point where i started to lose water pressure though. The RPM gauge started to shoot up pretty high before it reached that point.

Man wish I could, Clemson has a super late spring break so I won't be in town til the next weekend, not sure if I'll have the boat in tow or not. I appreciate the offer though! I'd definitely take any suggestions if you had em

    Re: (Vyper202)

I'll have to see if I can get the boat up there that weekend. If not, I'm in the Triangle from May to the end of August so we'll have to meet up at some point. I really appreciate it!

Re: What props are you guys running? (CUBass33)

From what I've heard, the 286's like a good bit of set back. I would try to find a 25P Raker (one of the originals, not the Raker II). If that doesn't satify you, go with a 12" plate before you change props again. Also start out with the prop shaft 3.5" below the pad and raise the motor till your water pressure starts dropping.
